My new Standard

Re: My new Standard

Very nice, looks quite familiar, I also have a black '04 Standard. I think that mine was made in June.

I found quite the same problem with the pickups as you did, the 490R sounded quite nice but the 498T sounded thin and shrill. Maybe it's just me, but I changed them to DMZ Tone Zone and PAF Pro and voilá: Problem solved, much better than earlier.

Agreed, +1..whatever :D

It's very PAF-ish in that it's got that fat "tubular" quality...but needs perhpas a bit more presence.

BB, congrats!..pretty axe...I've got my eyes on a 61 Reissue right now.

Did you find the Tone Zone to lack highs/treble in your SG?

I've got an Airzone layin around I bought for my Jackson (which I'm not gonna keep) that I thot I might try in the bridge of my Firebird.

No, though it may make the guitar have less treble overall than before. You just have to add some more than you had before. I think that it sounds nicely thick and middy, with a vowel-like sound. Adds a little cut, IMO. I don't find the bass loose either, what has sometimes been attributed to TZ. I think they suit each other quite well.

It is being made by the same place that made the Fender aluminum Strat and Teles awhile ago. I'm putting a Custom P-90 in the Bridge. Ho do you think that would sound? Did you have issues with feedback at high gain levels?
with the single coil pickups it came with it would but puting in any newer type noisless pickups it would be fine and the tone is realy cool.
