N(U)GD! It's red!

Re: N(U)GD! It's red!

I agree the guitar is beautiful. But i hate the pickguard. Mint green or cream or aged white would look better IMHO.

Re: N(U)GD! It's red!

yeah... gary is amazing. that colour is atrocious though.

What about now? It aged quite a bit in 25 years between shows

I am gonna keep posting vids until you admit Red Strats Are The Best

Re: N(U)GD! It's red!

Gold hardware, eh?

Re: N(U)GD! It's red!

I was gonna say the body's grain was fantastic
but that neck is the sexiest thing I have ever seen

red strats are classic, I will grant you that. but that is a statement of fact. a lot of people tend to love the look of red strats. I am not one of them. At least not the opaque red finishes. trans-red is different....

Re: N(U)GD! It's red!

A couple P-90s in it would be truly awesome. Or how about P-Rails?! Versatility ++.

PS: Hank Marvin is a somewhat cheesy guitarist, imho.

yeah i'm kinda twirling the idea of p-90s around. or at least phatcats or some such humbuckery p90ey mixup. I don't have a lot of experience with p90s though... I am really digging the hell outta these single coils at the moment though, they sound so gnarly and brash. I'm almost reluctant to change them!

Re: N(U)GD! It's red!

guys...

great guitarists do not make ugly guitars look better.

Sweet looking guitar! The trans-red finish looks awesome over that killer ash grain. I'd probably go with a black pick-guard myself, but it looks super hot the way it is already...

As for swapping out the singles..don't man..I bet they sound awesome! I've always liked the sound/feel of good SSS guitars (mostly ash or alder ones) I've played but just never got around to owning one myself. Every time I deicide to pick-up a a strat (of some sort) with singles I end getting something pointy with HB's instead. It's got to STOP haha..

Re: N(U)GD! It's red!

That guitar looks great, just as it is. If it was mine, i'd simply fit it with the best set of single-coil pickups for a great Strat sound and then play the snot out of it.

He's an extremely important figure in the history of electric guitar in the UK and probably Europe. It's not by accident that one can hear so much of Hank in the clean playing of Jeff Beck. Admittedly his style may now seem very dated to modern players, but to my way of thinking, 'cheesy' is more applicable to most of the EVH-wannabees and screechy shredders who bring nothing much of interest to the table beyond their own egos.

i'm sorely tempted to leave it as is. the pickups in there already sound better than my set of custom handwound single coils i have in my 62RI.
I'll be honest, I do like the shade of red. It looks like wine. But more than looks, it sounds freakin unreal. Gonna post a clip soon as it's done rendering and uploading. it's just crazy good.

Without Hank, guys like Michael Schenker would sound VERY different. Hank is one of the very very few influences you can actually hear in Michael's playing (the other big one being Leslie West). Cheesey or not, I love listening to Hank.

Re: N(U)GD! It's red!

Im just giving ya a hard time, but seriously. If anyone else had shown up in 1977 with some butchered up strat with quarters taped to it and taped off with yellow tape, or sawed up a perfectly good Destroyer and painted it like vomit after a spaghetti dinner then put a chain on it, or came out with a butt ugly Tele/Les Paul hybrid with a goofy headstock and reversed pickup selector..that was NOT that great of a player, eddies guitars would never be so highly regarded....he woulda been laughed off the stage.

But he is Eddie, and thus he has made those ugly guitars look cool to a metric buttload of fans.
