NAD and NCD

Re: NAD and NCD

throw some tung sol 12ax7s in there, and some V30s or G1265s in there and you're gonna have a really beautiful setup.

The G12T-75s really do not get along with that amp IMO. It's very hard (read: impossible) to dial in the amp through those speakers.

Re: NAD and NCD

Those setting are were the amp seems to sound the best right now. Increasing the bass doesn't seem to add any bottom end it just makes the low E get mushy with no definition. I have been adjusting the settings and moving my cab to different spots in the room for 3 days. After doing more research I put some foam inside the cab that helped a little I also removed the casters. That seemed to help a little as well.
But there's still a good bit of brightness left to tame. It sounds good for some of the stuff I play. But not the metal stuff with a lot of chug. I do not hate that amp by any means. I have really been into the Steve Stevens tone lately. If I can get it closer to that I will be happy.

How would a mix of greenbacks and vintage 30's sound with the amp? Or vintage 30's and G12h's? I also like what I have read and heard of the creamback speakers.

Might sound weird, but try taking two of the speakers out of that cab and mixing the T75s with a pair of Greenbacks. I've heard good things about the WGS Green Berets, too.

These videos might be of interest to you.

It's a very middy amp, and it really needs speakers with plenty of mids for that character to come out. The 75's just don't fit the bill. Basically any other celestion speaker will sound light years better. I bet the v30/g12h combo would be crunch city whereas a mix with green or creambacks would be more chewy and classic sounding.

I used to run my JCA100 with wgs retro 30s (like a chimier v30) and g12-65s. It sounded nice and rich, crunchy with a bit of chewiness, very well balanced and capable of doing heavy stuff as well as lower gain rock and blues tones.

Re: NAD and NCD

Certainly looks like it would be a killer deal, especially fora straight across trade. I have a JCA-100H that i'm gonna be getting rid of this weekend. It's studio use only, and has brand new JJ tubes. just serviced. It has little to no clean sound whatsoever, but the distortion sound is pretty badass. I need a bluesier amp.

I'm trying to think of what kind of 'deal with the devil at the crossroads' I need to pull off at guitar center....they have a used budda that i WANT. Bad.
