NAD: Bassbreaker 18/30

High Voltologist
So I've been hemming and hawing over picking up one of these for a while now and a few weeks ago one of the local GC's dropped their drawers on a few of the combos and it finally got me to bite today.

I had the 007 head and dug it but I found it was best suited to studio work so now it's at my buddy's place. I used it for a session there and he was very interested in it so it got a new home and I can visit whenever I want.

I was really torn between the the 18/30 and the 45, they're both really, really good. I like EL84's and I think that was ultimately what swayed me , there is something I just like hearing that they give me. It is a huge sounding amp, very rich sounding with a lot of detail.

One of my friends was over right after I got it and we were running his P-90 McCarty thru it and they seemed like a match made it heaven.

There will be more to follow as I run it a bit I am sure.

That series of amps is legitimately awesome. I could see myself being really happy with the 15w for home and the 45w for gigs.

Re: NAD: Bassbreaker 18/30

I really like the 15w but I found it kind of noisy. I played a bunch of them and they all had what seemed to be the same exact issue. Seems like a common complaint attributed to the reverb, it sounds great otherwise though.

So about 1/2 up on either volume and the amp starts to come alive. To really hear the 18 side at it's best it has to be dimed, the 30 side just about 3/4 vol makes it shine pretty well. Dimed the 30 side is tricky to keep clean but it sounds freaking amazing, sucker is LOUD!!!

Well it passed it's full on audition today with flying colors. It loves the Pigtronix Class A Boost, like they were made for each other. My T-Rex Emmie Delay/Boost worked really well too as did the Tubescreamer Mini I picked up to use. Only running at 1/3 volume so I wasn't sure how it would work since it really shines when it's cranked but backing off I thought it felt a little flat sometimes. It definitely likes the push the pedals give it and reacts really well to them.

3 hrs full on rehearsal and it didn't hiccup at any point, I'm pretty thrilled actually. I've had a tricky time finding a second amp and I think this might finally be the ticket.

I am not normally a big fan of the V30 speaker but these are pretty good, I know they're not the 30's but they are in that line anyways.

I was having a blast the other day running it flat out on it's own with my LP Trib (59's), sounds like Nugent mid to late 70's, totally righteous.
