NAD - Blackstar HT 40

Re: NAD - Blackstar HT 40

did you buy it new or used. If new, really wont have to check bias unless you want to. should be prettyclose to factory settings.

for preamp tubes, you dont need to bias them. simple swap, pull out plug in. theyre cheap too, round 10-12 so you can have fun experimenting.

Bought it new (at less than new price :D )

Re: NAD - Blackstar HT 40

Poking around on sites like TheGearPage, you'd think it was the worst amp in the world by how badly it gets slammed there... I suppose if it doesn't start with 'M', it's s*** for most of the folks over there.

I stopped going there years ago, because it's rife with moldy couch stuffing eltist ******bags. I can afford any gear I want, but I buy what makes me happy, not internetz authority figures....

That was the quickest honeymoon-phase, settle-down, divorce process perhaps of all time.

Re: NAD - Blackstar HT 40

Indeed... lol. I didn't dislike the HT 40. Quite the contrary. But the weight of it bothered me. ***** was heavy. And I was put off by Korg being the US service channel.

I'm not going to say the Katana sounds better. But it's light, cheap (329 at GC), plenty loud for what I need and I'm having just a blast with it. For what it is, it sounds quite good!
