NAD: Dream Amp... Mesa Mark II

Re: NAD: Dream Amp... Mesa Mark II

Nice! Most of the Boogie guys seem to agree on that being the ultimate speaker for these amps. I've got the Eminence MS12 in my MKIIB and it sounds pretty good. The shift control on the amp seems to give it a more fendery midrange, I almost always use it for bluesy cleans. The presence seems to control the overall smoothness and attack of the amp, try starting with it kinda high and lower as you raise the volume. The "Slave Out" on the back works as a line out with a level control. It is pretty hot so keep the knobs pretty low. It sounds pretty good for recording. You can also use it to run the amp into the line in of another amp so you can use another power amp with the Boogies preamp, if you want to run a wall of amps onstage.

When you clean up the amp, a little bit of brasso (or any other mild metal polish) and some scrubbing does wonders for the rust on the corner pieces, same with the screws, nuts and washers. This is mine after a good bit of elbow grease:

It looks like yours is also a Mark IIB, unless it was modified at some point up to the later specs (some of the amps on the used market have been, since Mesa did factory upgrades on these for pretty cheap) You should also check out the Grailtone Mesa Boogie forum. They have a sub-forum for old Mesa's like yours that has some cool information in it (although not a lot of current activity)
