Have to admit haven't tried this amp. But I will concede ss amps have come a long ways over the years. I found they used to be almost robotic in the response. Not so much now.

We have a pretty open-minded forum. Threads like this in other forums bring out the worst in people, as if you like for something diminishes their like for something else.

Bottom line is live and let live. If a guy modifies an old radio from a 65 G.M.C and plays it through four empty Benjamin Moore cans. Why the hell should anyone care other than the guy playing it.

Well, that makes sense. However, it does seem to threaten guitarists if you do something differently or at least differently than what they do. This is one of the reasons I like this place- there isn't a lot of that here.

It's even worse when you have cheap gear and love it, in a forum with guys full of expensive gear.

Most real guitarists and musicians are actually supportive, but some feel almost threatened by the fact that you can get by with a couple Epiphones and some Boss pedals, and will subtly put you down when the chance comes up.

"Oh, an Epiphone. Well, it doesn't play as nice as a real Gibson but congratulations, I guess you'll enjoy it".

Silly people.

True. I'm sure some people thought E. Van Halen was a basket case. Then spent years chasing him not to mention chainsawing up their guitars. ( and putting a modified 65 G.M.C. radio in their signal path )

I think this place is more open minded than others because of the nature of the company supporting the site. Swapping pickups isn't a purists pursuit (hey, that sounds cool..."purists pursuit"). If you're open to yanking pickups and swapping magnets, you're probably more open to different mods and gear.

By the way, this weekend I got to really open the BC Artist up at 80 watts, volume about 7 on the clean channel. Sounded almost exactly the same as at lower wattage, just LOUD.

Messed around with some pedals as well. In front of the amp, they worked best with the clean channel (no surprise). I did find the effects loop worked better for delay and stuff, whereas I never really could tell a difference with my old HR Deville where you put them in the chain.

I like the amp a lot, but I bet they would sell more if they could bring the price point down a bit, as it's in some nice tube territory at its current price. Not that it isn't worth it, but I bet that puts a lot of guys off who are on the fence.

I like the way a 100 watter through a half stack of efficient speakers can almost make one nauseus, even when the volume is only on "3".

Congrats I love my SS amps as much as my tube ones...different flavors is how I see it :bigthumb:

Absolutely love these amps. Have an Artist and a Stage, Ultimate Blues and NY Blues. Incredible sound, light weight, pedal-friendly, low volume or loud... and blonde :-)
