Re: NAD! Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier 50 watt 2 channel OMG(oodness)

That is one kuh-razy deal. Congrats!
I have spent more than that in plugins this past week!

I've spent about $700 on pedals alone this week!

Dayumm... I'm not a Mesa guy but I would have bought that amp in a second. What a steal!!!

Re: NAD! Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier 50 watt 2 channel OMG(oodness)

well I already own a good overdrive I like so I will continue using it anyway :P

Re: NAD! Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier 50 watt 2 channel OMG(oodness)

Daaaaaamn. What a steal! I was thinking of picking up it's sister amp, the Rectoverb, and giving it some Voodoo Mods for a backup amp.

Does it work and all?

I still recommend trying the FX loop trick I mentioned, because it makes a lot of difference in how these amps sound. It took a lot of mud out of my Triple Rec's tone.

Re: NAD! Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier 50 watt 2 channel OMG(oodness)

To the 1 person asking about tubes, yes it does and they serviced last year. To the guy asking if it works? Yes it does and it sounds glorious and to the guy above with the output trick thing. I will try when I get home. :P

Re: NAD! Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier 50 watt 2 channel OMG(oodness)

Man that's awesome. I have the 100 watt 3 channel version and to be honest it's too much amp. I think a 50 watt 2 channel would have been absolutely perfect for me, and I'm jealous!!

Re: NAD! Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier 50 watt 2 channel OMG(oodness)

The only Recto I'd want at the highest price I'd pay. Good job.

Re: NAD! Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier 50 watt 2 channel OMG(oodness)

Nice, congrats!

Now put a jumper in the FX loop, crank the output and turn the return all the way down (it adds a little extra push in the Poweramp).

Is the same effect achieved if you've already got stuff in the loop or is it only something you'd do if you've got nothing in the loop? I also have a series 1 Mesa Single Recto and i'd been running just a reverb pedal in the loop. I'm curious.

Re: NAD! Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier 50 watt 2 channel OMG(oodness)

What's the difference between a single and a dual recto again?

Re: NAD! Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier 50 watt 2 channel OMG(oodness)

Dual/Triple rectos have tube rectification while the single has diode rectification.

That I don't know. I don't run any effects with this amp.

Single Rectifier - two power tubes, 50 watts, solid state rectification only
Dual Rectifier - four power tubes, 100 watts, two rectifier tubes, switch for solid state or tube rectification
Triple Rectifier - six power tubes, 150 watts, three rectifier tubes, switch for solid state or tube rectification

Also, newer Dual and Triple Recs have a switch to select the output wattage for each channel. The switches allow you to select either 100 watts or 50 watts on the Dual Rec, and either 150 watts or 50 watts on the Triple Rec.
