NAD - Peavey Blues Classic 50W 1x15

Re: NAD - Peavey Blues Classic 50W 1x15

Arrived safe and sound! Pretty damn clean and well cared for as well. Plugged in for a quick few minutes and can't wait until my evening is free so I can spend some time playing it.

I hadn't mentioned this one has been professionally modified to have a pair of tweeters added top right and left above the stock 15" speaker...def gives it a more complex sound than the prior one I owned. It's really a beautiful full clean sounding amp.

Removed the Peavey Emblem (as most Peavey Tweed Classic owners do) for a cleaner/old style Fender look; going to give it a JJ Tubes "Blues Re-Tube" - premium matched quad of JJ EL84's in a hotter grade for power along with a standard ECC83S for V1, an ECC832 for V2 which drops the gain and makes the drive channel sound more open and natural, and a graded high current ECC83S for V3 with biasing and a Celestion Fullback Speaker Upgrade. After I'm done with this one I'll do a Re-Tube/Bias on the Marshall JTM50T - thankfully it's already packing Ipswich Greenbacks.

The Fullback is a killer speaker. I would expect a ton of clean headroom in that amp. You are going to be very happy with it. Here is a review I wrote on mine.

Finally dropped it off for the JJ Tubes "Blues Re-Tube" - premium matched quad of JJ EL84's in a hotter grade for power along with a standard ECC83S for V1, an ECC832 for V2 which drops the gain and makes the drive channel sound more open and natural, and a graded high current ECC83S for V3 with biasing and swapping in a Celestion Fullback 15" Speaker.

Cant wait to hear what you think of the Fullback. I think it is 100% Celestion tone.

Re: NAD - Peavey Blues Classic 50W 1x15

I'm hoping so...it was a choice between the Celestion Fullback or an Eminence Big Ben. Based on the vids I listened to on YouTube I really liked the Fullbacks sound overall.

Re: NAD - Peavey Blues Classic 50W 1x15

Got it back today with fresh tubes, bias and the Fullback installed/tweeters disconnected!!! Plugging it in and getting a feel for it tonight.

Awesome amp! Would love to try one someday, intrigued by the 15'' speaker.

Definitely think it look better with the Peavey logo taken off.

Re: NAD - Peavey Blues Classic 50W 1x15

Thanks! 3rd one of these I've owned; should have kept the first one.

Didn't get to spend as much time playing it as I had hoped. In the time I did get to plug it in and enjoy it; I can tell that the new tubes and speaker made the Reverb come to life on the Normal Channel...really "bloomed" into a much fuller/more lush sounding reverb.

In addition; the Celestion Fullback speaker is most definitely more refined/defined in it's tonal clarity and bringing out nuances in hearing the strings as opposed to the stock Peavey's more rudimentary full/thick "Blues" tone.

I didn't try to dial in a "Dirty/Lead" tone with it yet - but I've a feeling that finding that tone won't be a problem. ;)

I found a Marshall Bluesbreaker 2x12 Extension Cabinet covered in white tolex and packing a pair of 1968 Jensen C12N 12" Speakers that I'm going to pick up and use as an extension for the Blues Classic. Should sound pretty damn sweet.

When I mix the Fullback with my 2x12 or 4x12 it is absolute heaven. Especially with hard rock or metal.

Re: NAD - Peavey Blues Classic 50W 1x15

I'm sure hoping it'll give me a full sweet clean reverberated Blues & Jazz tone with the Jensen C12N pair blended in with the Fullback.
