Saturday my buddies in my band and I went to Buffalo guitar center just to scope ssome gear and basically dick around and try stuff out. I wanted to try an Egnater vengeance and low and behold, they had one. Plugged it into a mesa oversized with a Bobby LP studio and......hated it. Really thin, really fizzy. Even when I had the master volume dimed and the channel volume low, just couldn't get a tone out of it that wwas usable. So on I went tto the nnext

I spotted a dirty XXX sitting in the corner on a beat Marshall 1960 4x12 in the clearance section. I looked at the price, 375!! I looked inside through the back. It was DUSTY. From what I could tell tthe tubes were all stock. I plugged it in and started tweaking.....I really likes it but I was getting the fizzy high end these aamps are known for so I had the idiot salesman (who really was an idiot) take it into an isolated room for me through a mesa overseized yet again. I dined the master volume and.used the channel volume to adjust the overall volume. WOW. I was in love, sounded brutal and ballsy, yet clear and the miss were not nearly as Honky as my ultra plus. No fizz whatsoever, just have to know how to set it up right!

I haggled a bit and ended up walking out with it for 375 no tax and a free speaker cable. Once I got it home, I cleaned all the dust off it and damn, this thing.never left yhe previoud owners house. It was CLEAN. Tubes are all stock and I'm getting a lot of feedback so I'm thinking about trying some new preamps.

I ran the amp stereo with my 6505 at practice and it sounded huge. Really fills.out the spectrums that the 6505 doesn't hit. I love it. I didn't get a chance to snap a pic yet but here's a stock pic for fun. Ill post pics when I'm out of work

Re: NAD: Peavey XXX

I love mine, I think they are great amps. The stock tubes are ****, take some of the money you saved and get a good set of PT's in there with a proper biasing and you'll be good to go. I swapped out some of the pre's but I can't recall at the moment what I dropped in it? I changed my PT's over to EL34's I prefer that over the 6L6's, I have Tung Sols in there right now and they've held up really well, sound great too.

Congrats, that's a great score and finally someone used PV's incredible resale value to their benefit
