This "cloning" doesnt happen with just this company of Strats and has been going on for a long time. Look at all of the companies making Tweed Clones. Theres gotta be hundreds of them. Victoria, Clark, Mission, Weber etc. There are tons making EXACT copies of Fender Tweed amps, and better than the ones Fender makes now (well, the Fender '57 Tweed Twin is a sick amp and just as good as some of these clones, but thats a rare case). How many companies clone Marshall and rip off of their design? Tons, bluesbraker clones other JTM45s, Plexis, modded things. Many companies clone Gibsons too. Clones are all over the place. It is nothing new that someone is cloning a classic guitar or amp design. IMO, this cloning is GREAT! If the original company goes under or starts to make sh!t, then you got the clones that are made with more care and time anyway...

Then enlighten me about the whole chain of owner ship of the Fender name since Leo started Fender.

And then enlighten me on the current methods of production, and how they're changed over the last 50 some odd years.

One more time, Fender is just a name. If Nash owned it you'd have your head completly up is ass just like you do with the current owners of Fender.

Besides, the guy above had a good point. Clones are good!

So let's hear a well articulted answer to EACH of my points. Not just a one line bull sh!t reply.

Wow, so much hate and mis-information....sad.

Bottom line is when it comes to solid body electric guitars, there are Strat's, Les Paul's and Tele's. Everything else is just a variation on the original. Do I like Fenders...absolutely. Do I think that some builders/assemblers put them together than standard production Fenders...absolutely.

Remember, it's all personal taste. If someone likes Fender just because it says Fender...great. If someone likes Nash or anyone else better....great. No need to call anyone an idiot or jackass or anything else. Spend your money on what you want, and let others do the same.

Does any of this really make a difference in anyone's life anyhow? Will you sleep better if someone says Fender or Nash is better?

I'll admit I got a little carried away. It makes me really bent when I hear people either saying "only a Fender or Gibson is good enough" or the opposite - that "they (Fender or Gibson) suck and don't make 'em like they used to."

Play what you like and let's all quit the bashing. Like the dude above said the majority of solid body guitars being built today are either copies or variations/combinations of Fenders and Gibsons with few exceptions.

so what you're saying is lightbulb makers are cashing in on Edisons invention, or that anyone using a modern assembly line is cashing in on Fords idea, so on and so forth? Get a grip, people are going to buy what they like regardless of what you have to say. Step down off your soapbox, keep your opinions to yourself (no one asked what you thought of the maker or his business "practices", just his guitars), and play your damn guitar.

Who cares if it's a Leo Fender Fender, or a Current Fender Fender or a Nash Fender or whatever.

If it feels good in your hands and sounds good to your ears then play the hell out of it.

It's about the music and having fun, not the name on the headstock or grill cloth.:smokin:

Stratcat you mentioned a persons age before being 15. Yet you are more immature then any 15 year old I've yet met. And secondly say what you want, but don't act like an 8 year old spoilt brat when someone asks you to list "WHY' you think its that, instead of just saying "because I said so"

What a great statement! Do you know the legacy of Gibson?

It boils down to this......neither company REALLY has a legacy, they have a name. That name is tied to instruments that also have the same name on the headstock, that's really where similarities end.

stratman, keep it in your pants. fender made great guitars, we almost all agree on that, and i love them as well. but the reason people look at buying a warmoth/parts/custom/usacg/nash guitar is that fender doesn't offer everything that people want in a guitar. you'll like your guitar so much more when it's built to what YOU want and you DON'T cut any corners just because it's got a cool looking name and you think it's made from the best company in the world. hate to break it to you, but leo fender doesn't own fender. most of the parts aren't even made in america. chances are the MIA guitars are just assembled in america. the CS is so ridiculously over-priced anyway that most people won't pay for them. i'd rather save up for something that i designed in the first place.

does fender offer an alder mustang in surf green, with 6130 frets, filtertron pickups, shark fin inlays, has a paisley pickguard, with a cbs reverse headstock, and a matching headstock?

does fender even offer an alder or a surf green mustang? nope, the mustang that they offer is MIJ (i think) and is made of basswood. some people like their guitars a little bit different than what fender offers. it's pretty straight-forward. the legacy is represented by a name. a name that for most of the time leo fender didn't own. what legacy? for the longest time,and still now, most musicians think that the cbs era was a horrible time.
