An old question that i would like a current answer to, please.

Bridge = JB Jr.

Neck = ??

Thrusty Punk/Rock playing,

Can anyone supply a GREAT comb??

Lil 59 = most likely match
Output and mids = Hotrails
Sweet and singing with balance output = Cool Rails
Classic Strat = Classic Stack (I use the bridge model in the neck for more balanced output)

.....or your favorite vintage strat single.

All will do rock/punk, just pick your flavor.

A Cool Rails is sort of like a Jazz humbucker, so you'd get the Jazz/JB combo-ish. It depends if you want it to sound like a humbucker or single coil, though.

I prefer to go single coil, issue is you can't drop every single one in and just keep
until you find what you want. Hence the starting point i find here. The only constant
would be the JB Jr bridge.

OK, as a single coil, what is more important.. volume balance with the JB Jr, or traditional single coil (Stratty) tone.

i did look at the quarter pound, but yes, im looking for hum-cancelling.
it amazes me with all the advancementes theres not a way to stop or cut the signal.

jb jr bridge - 100%, just need to figure out the neck.
i only want to pull things apart once for now hopfully.

If DiMarzio stuff is cool for you I would try out Fast Track 1 or Injector neck. Those would balance well with medium high/high output bridge humbucker, are noise cancelling since dual and have stratty tones. Injector neck is bit more stratty sounding than Fast Track 1.

If it's a given that the Jb jr is going to stay, then (if it were me) I'd just store it in the closet or give it to a friend. Or a Hot Rails in the neck with a series/split/parallel switch.

I make a lot of guitars and most of them have pretty hot P-90s with very little or no perceptible hum. I use the "advancements" of good grounding, insulation, and copper foil tape (or carbon paint).

When I moved from fluorescent lights to LEDS and central air

The hum in my house decreased drastically

And I agree some rails pickup with a parallel option

Weird direction to go based on what you were earlier looking for.

While they look like decent pickups . . . they are low output and non-hum cancelling. Might still work (you can make almost any pickup work with enough tweaking of the amps, speakers, and pedals especially for punk music).

If you're OK with hum, my vote would be for a quarter pound based on what you were gunning for earlier in the thread. It's a surprisingly versatile pickup, pretty high output, and sounds great on a variety of stuff.

I don’t have anything set in stone. I’m using the strummer pickups as a reference to my taste in music. There are so many good options I’m trying to narrow down the list.
