Need a Clean Amp, Tube or SS. Opinions?

So I've working on down sizing my rig. Right now I have a Tiny Terror and Dark Terror, and run them through a 4x12 with an ABY. This setup is perfect for everything dirty that I'd ever need.

However, I'm finding myself in need of more clean type sounds lately, and these amps don't deliver for that. So what I'm looking for is an amp, preferably a combo, that can handle cleans at volumes loud enough to cope with the rest of my setup. I am not opposed to an SS amp, as long as it fits the criteria, nor do I have a preference between tube or solid state. So what do you guys recommend?

Thanks for the replies guys.

Three amps off the top of my head are 1. Roland Jazz chorus (SS) 2. Blackstar ID series (SS) 3. Fender Twin (Tube)

They have a feature that allows it to sound as loud and emulate different tubes.

If I didn't already own the HT40 I would be looking at these. I could get along with a SS 2x12 combo over a tube 2x12 like a twin.

I'll vouch for the cleans of a Peavey Classic 50-410. About a grand brand new, and chiming, full-bodied clean tone that gets loud when you want it to.

dude, grab a used fender hot rod or tech 21 trademark 60 and bank the rest of your cash. awesome cleans on both, and they can be had used for cheap. peavey classics, too. the classic 50 4x10 is an awesome awesome amp. i had a classic 30 for over a decade that treated me very well. just grabbed a new hot rod deluxe iii because i missed the fender clean tones, and it takes pedals incredibly well. plenty of volume.

:33: With a forum name like Billy Gibbons, you should get a used 59 Bassman RI. Add a pedal or two and you're set.
Although, hardly could be considered as " downsizing"!:dunno:

Somewhere around a grand, preferably less.

The Blackstar amps are interesting, and I'm curious if they really are as loud as a tube amp, as springing for the lower wattage could save me some cash.
Lower wattage generally means less headroom and that is a bad thing if you are looking for a pristine clean tone or clean with any real volume.

I saw that Rivera released a new small combo at NAMM,.specifically designed for a pedal setup.

in a tube amp
the Carvin Belair has cleans that match the Fender Twin
they are new what what a used twin goes for ($700)
used, much better , on GC used they have one right now that is $349 plus shipping

in a solid state
one of the Roland amps ( Cubes, Jazz Chorus, etc)
the Carvin SX is stupid cheap used and has nice cleans
the Peavey Bandit is a ridiculously good SS amp

Fender Twin Reverb. Done.

The bigger issue is which one to get. Tweed, Blackface, Silverface, Ultra Linear, Rivera Era II, Red knob, Evil Twin or a RI?
