Need a cold-sounding 80's-90's type chorus pedal

When I started playing in the early Nineties, there were a lot of cold, clinical-sounding inexpensive chorus pedals. Many of them had sketchy build quality and unreliable switches. I'm looking for a reliable pedal that has that dated sound. Any ideas?

I would suggest a DOD 460 you can't get much more 80's than that.

Oh yeah.

In true 80s/90s fashion, you could also buy a used Zoom multiFX unit (not the 505 II, please) that will have that chorus + a **** ton of other 80s/90s "cold" effects.
EDIT: Oh wait, you said reliable. Nevermind then.

Our other guitar player recently grabbed one. Epic 80's tone.

I know this may sound cliche, but isn't the DOD Icebox, the definition of what you need LPB?

I don't know. Is it quiet and reliable? I've never been a fan of those DOD momentary switches.

CH-1 is digital, isn't it?

They first circuit revision was analog, but the later ones are digital; I can't remember if the cutoff was in 2001 or 2003. If you're interested I have one of the digital ones that I'd be willing to let go reasonably cheap.

Yeah the 460 will do it. No LED on those though if that bothers you. The DOD FX series (in this case the FX60, 64, and 65) usually go cheaper (than the 460 type) and can do this well.

As for the CH-1's (from the bossarea website)

Together with the CE-5, the CH-1 underwent significant design changes October 2001. The CH-1s made after this time uses digital circuitry and surface mounted components while the older version uses an analog MN3007 BBD. The easiest way to determine which version you have is to use the serial number. If the second letter/first number combination is earlier than P1, you have the analog type. This also mean that all digital CH-1s will have a dark gray label.

DOD FX64 (it's called ice box for a reason) and DOD FX65 should get you there. I had an FX64 and apart from the battery door it worked well.

Ce-3 is the definition of cold clinical chorus. And anything that superceded it in the BOSS lineup.
