Need a hand with Eugene's Trick Bag..

Ok so... I've been learning Eugene's Trick Bag but its still those damn first arpeggios that are stopping me claiming glory..

These are played at 130 BPM... but at the moment I can't get past 90. I'm using alternate picking because my sweep picking is pretty much non-existant. Is it humanly possible to play this using alternate? Or is sweep a must?

Chace-
Break each chord into pieces.... For example, start the first Am run on the D string C (5th fret), play that note then economy pick down to the E string 8th fret once you shift your hand position up. I'd learn to burn that 9 note pattern then start adding the lower notes on the upper 2 strings. The absolutey key to sweep picking IMO is to start using three strings and go from there. It is much more difficult to sweep all 6 strings than it is to sweep 3! Good luck!

Ok cool.. thanks alot I'll give that a try... three strings then slowy add!

Re: Need a hand with Eugene's Trick Bag..

this piece isnt hard to alternate pick.... practice using modal arpeggios as a warm up ONLY alternate picking for your sake. and yes vai alternate picks this

Ok.. lets clear this up... did vai sweep this or alternate pick it? My bets wity the sweep.
