Need an LED for a pedal.

I need an LED or two that's 5mm and in the 3000 mcd range... just wanna make some LEDs on my pedals brighter. I'd prefer the type that Fulltone uses on their stuff, the bright lens kind.

Anyone know where I can get those?

Re: Need an LED for a pedal.

In fact you can just use standard market LEDs which are in your pedal and change the resistor which reduces the current coming from DC supply. Usually it's sth like 2k up to 5k Ohms, 1k makes good bright light in mine. Hope it's the solution.

Re: Need an LED for a pedal.

Small Bear Electronics cater to the DIY pedal community. They have all the popular sizes and colors, with less hassle for small quantities.

Don't forget you'll probably need to change the dropping resistor when you change the LED.

Re: Need an LED for a pedal.

I've contacted the pedal builder before starting the project - as long as I stay around 3000 mcd I will not need to change anything else.

Re: Need an LED for a pedal.

You could just decrease the resistor value going between the v+ and anode leg of led to increase brightness. I once built a pedal with a 100 ohm resistor on a white led...it was brighter than a mag-light when the pedal was turned on. Right around 2.2-4k is the average standard.

Anyway, check out the waterclear led selection at Tayda:

Tayda is the way to go. Mammoth is ok too, but more $: mammothelectronics.com
