Great reply...post 2 monster blues player in a live settign on one side and a pedal demo on the other...

Listen, you can take the "Blues players don't use pedals" stance all day but that crap holds NO water here or anywhere else...
First blues is a style and a feeling not a sound, you can play the blues on anything you have...as for using effects pedals in a blues setting or as a blues player...

All these guys have played blues or do play blues and they all use pedals...many of them in fact use lots of pedals and are known for their killer tones...

I have a Dirty Little Secret and a BD-2.
I prefer the BD-2 - I find that I can get a subtle, more realistic breakup effect.
Plus, dialing in the tone seems easier when trying to match it with my normal tone.
Don't get me wrong though, the DLS is not going anywhere. It's rock and rawk switch is a must have with single coils.
I am not sure what sound your looking for, but I am just after a natural break up that comes with having the amp on 10. If I could crank my amp, I would probably not use any dist. pedal.

What I read from your post is that you do not have any idea what BLUES is all about!
You seem to think that it’s in a pedal, but it is not.
If you think it in a scale, it is not.
It is a feeling that comes from your heart and soul and could be played fast or slow, but when it is played correctly, with or without pedals, you and the audience will know it!
Frankly, I cannot see how someone who goes but the name ‘Metal”maniac would believe that he knows what blues really is!

I think like everyone has said that you have enough drive pedals but if you are set on getting one something with a tweed or blackface character (vs a marshall character or a ts type od) might be nice or something very transparent.

pedals have their place for sure but if i can get away without using one, i usually like the results better.
oh and jimmie vaughan should not be allowed to take solos on blues songs
