I tried the HC Woody. I wasn't getting the tone I was looking for. Too much air and no warmth...
I decided to close mic it instead. I ordered a SM57 that should be here by the weekend. Hopefully mic'ing will yield better results.
I haven't tried any other undersaddle pick ups. If you try some and like the results, post a review.

How about the Duncan D-Tar multisource?

Martins using 'em now... sounds killer. Just a like a guitar, imagine that! Controls are easy to get at too, right in the soundhole. I've never been too impressed with the Fishman stuff, even the Blender system. They almost always sound brittle & quacky... the sound out of the D-Tar with a Mama Bear preamp really blew me away. Even over other high-end systems like Sunrise...
Bottom line though is that just about anytime you have an under-saddle pickup the actual acoustic sound of the guitar its sitting in doesn't matter. Could be a $200 laminated thing or a $6000 custom build. They sound "about" the same plugged in and they all sound terrible plugged into a cheap passive DI box.
I have a Dean Markley soundhole pickup for my Alverez... sounds pretty crappy. High strings are loud, low strings don't have much volume so I use an EQ & compressor pedal to even 'em out... it works well enough for the couple times a year I need it.
Haven't tried any soundhole pickups that are much better including the Woody, though I haven't tried the Woody with adjustable polepieces.
