Not sure if I now how to give you fellas a link but these new Fender Teles have me kind of excited. Just go to their site and click on "New for 2007."

Vintage Hot Rod 52 Tele:
1) 9.5 radius
2) Nitro
3) Medium Jumbo frets
4) Duncan mini hummer in the neck/tele bridge

This is the set-up I've always wanted in a tele. How about you?

Man, thanks for the GAS.

I gonna buy one of these as soon as they become available...it's so hot...:)

As an aside, did y'all notice the Hot Rod '57 Strat has a mini Tone Zone in the bridge while the '62 Hot Rod Strat does not?

i've been saying it for years the duncan vintage mini hum is hands down the BEST tele neck pickup IMO. just ask bludave how cool it is as he now owns my "Twistedcaster" which has it in the neck. granted it's an alder body and not ash like the new fender model but i'm sure it will still rock in ash!

That twistedcaster is awesome.

Sensible stuff. Basically all the mods real players do to older/ri instruments.

Yes, seems overpriced, but just to point out that they got the marketing device of "THIN-SKINNED NITRO FINISH," which they used to jack the price of the Eric Johnson sig strat up, which was still a killer guitar and probably the best they put out in a really long time. I actually like the looks of that a lot. I always liked the way teles played, looked and sounded, but I always hated the way the neck pickup (which is what I use 99% of the time, even more on a single coil guitar) sounded so weak and muddy. So the mini will sound more powerful and warm and the guitar still retains that vintage vibe. Good job Fender!

I also like the way the new 62 Vintage Hot Rod Strat looks. That one isnt quite as hot rodded because it has the traditional 3 vintage style 3 single coils, but has the flatter fingerboard radius and larger frets and the Sheerwood green finish looks pretty sweet. I do not like the 57 Hot Rod though, Dimarzio stacked pup in the bridge - ehh, it reminds me of the Yngwie Strat. But Im sure some die hard Tele players (classic low output 2 single coils) will say the same about the new Tele, that its not traditional.

Looks like the guitar companies are trying to go back to their roots and still use newer stuff and offer it at non-custom shop prices (Marshall Vintage Modern series, Fender Vintage Hot Rod series, the new Gibson LP Classics, Fender Supersonics). Definitely will be some cool stuff comin out this year, and Im anxious to see if Fender releases any new amps.

Did Keith Richards pass on the 'signature' deal here? I always gag a little bit when I see him and his REAL 50's tele with a mini hum in the neck....i mean it's a cool look but a brutalized guitar is a brutalized guitar.

That is a sweet lookin' Tele. The one Stevie_Bees posted is nice lookin' too. Makes me miss my Tele. Oh well.

Keith's Tele has a "full-size" humbucker in the neck, not a mini humbucker....and as far as I know, it came that way. And he did have a sig Tele, but it was a CIJ model with a short run.

There was a story I had read where he put an order in with Fender for a "beat up" Telecaster and shortly thereafter, the CS started making the relic models.

Isn't it a '52 meaning that it had to have been modded to get a bucker?

At any rate, I saw a limited edition fender custom shop (with the silver CS logo) keithcaster for not too much more than these are at MF at a local shop. That was a sad day indeed.

AT least they got this right...

3-Position Blade:
Position 1. Bridge Pickup
Position 2. Neck Pickup with Tone Control (Bright Vintage Circuit)
Position 3. Neck Pickup with No Tone Control (Dark Vintage Circuit)

Yes, it's an early 50's, but from I can remember from articles, I don't think he is the original owner of it. I believe "he" got it that way, meaning it had the Gibson PAF in the neck already.
