Good option to have, I think. I prefer 25.5 in general - feels less cramped on the upper frets, though with a traditional type neck joint as here, access still isn't great.

So, before all the purists come out caterwauling about LPs being besmirched, a longer scale being 'wrong' etc., I doubt they'll stop making 24.75 ones for you.

For me the 24.75 scale is one of the distinguishing characteristics of Gibson guitars and one of the reasons I tend to play Gibson more than Fender. Stumpy fingers.

It's good they're offering it though.

At that price I'll probably stick with my MIM/MIJ Fenders when I want to play 25.5.

I saw the price tag and legitimately said out loud, "Holy sh!t!".

I think they would get more sales if they started making 25.5" scale length an option for Studio Les Pauls first. That way people could actually afford them, and it is essentially the same thing minus the expensive detail work.

those are $2,832 inlays, I guess . . . but seriously, where'd they come up with the '$832' part ? Were they throwing darts at a board ? Did they bring 3 employees into a room and ask them to think of a number between 1 and 10 ? Is it somebody's street address ? Does $4,999 seem like way too much, but $4,832 is 'JUST RIGHT' ? I bet Phil at Precision guitar kits would charge something staggering like $250 or so extra to change the programming on the CNC and give you any scale you wanted, with way better wood . . .

The price is probably rrp; I'd think street would be less, but it's Gibson, so *shrug*.

I think this is a good move personally. I've always loved the tone of Gibsons but never cared for their necks. I'm not saying this will make me go and buy one, but I think its cool to see them offer the longer scale...just my two cents...
