While out fishing today, my buddy calls and says he's at a bar where they're having a benefit for a local that passed. He's says their having a silent auction with a nice Les Paul guitar with no bids. Starting at $400. Told him to send me pics. Well, it had a bolt on neck and said Gibsun, so I told him thanks for the heads up. He doesn't know a lot about instruments, but cool he's keeping an eye out for me.
Then I take a closer look at the pic and notice a corner of a Tweed looking amp. I call him right back and ask what's up with the amp? He walks over to it and tells me what it says, Fender Deluxe Reissue, and in the listing it said Celestion Gold. I asked how many bids, he says none. Starts at $300. I told him to put my name on it and I'll be there before 6:00, when the auction ends.
So I get there at 5:45, he's gone, but I'm still the only bidder. I patiently watch the clip board, talking to the people hounding over the Chibson. Trying to keep people's interest off of "My amp".
Bam! Its mine! Talking to some volunteers and security, I found out they intend to call all the high bidders tomorrow morning. A little sweet talking with the head lady (owner of the bar's wife), explaining I was the only bidder, she let me take it home.
Oh that guitar went for $900. A cheap squire Infinity with a Hard Rock Cafe sticker and Michael McDonald's autograph went for $550.
Have only played through it for 30 minutes or so, but I'm very impressed with this amp.
It has no rips or tears, but there's some smudge prints on the tweed. What would be the best way to try to clean the tweed?

The pic that started it all. It is a pretty nice looking guitar.
