picking up a new EVH iii 2x12 combo. I love the power scaling feature. I played a few at the local G.C. and love the way they sound. I want to throw in some Creamback g12h 75's cuz I love the midrange of those H mags on the speaker. I was thinking of having FJA mods do a couple mods on it but they are clear back in NY. I don't know how I feel about trying to ship a combo that far or what it would cost or the potential damage to that heavy combo. I think its around 85 pounds. Still on FJA mod Facebook page he had some cool mods going for the clean channel and a couple other things too. Anybody shipped or picked up an amp that was shipped clear across the country like that?

thats a face Melter amp, pretty much a one trick pony (and that one trick is monster high gain) assuming its like my 6505, and i am not so sure about the creambacks, thats more a plexi or jMP style speaker.
i think you'd be better served by something like emi legends or Wizards.
you do not need to ship the whole amp to fJA, just the chassis.

Never though about that either. Just the chassis would save me major bucks. He just released some video clip mods to the amp heads for this model. On the 3rd video I think he calls it the "depth mod" it's got a brutal Soldano sound. The.clean mod is adding a separate volume and gain for channel 1 and not sure what else he does to the circuit but he makes it sound better. Ya thinking on it pretty seriously about spending the extra cash. Also thinking on getting a matching 2x12 extension cab. I bought an excellent Dolly at Costco that folds out into a cart and can haul up to 1000 pounds. Between this amp and the 68 reissue fender twin I should have my cleans and distortion covered for now.

I have a Swamp Thang in my Carvin XV-212 along with a Celestion 12M-70. The Celestion is due to be replaced by a Texas Heat. That will give me 300 watts in just the combo. Meaning I could dime the Clean volume and not worry about blowing a speaker (not that I could say the same about adjacent eardrums).
