Ok, I, like many, have been reading about this thing all year, and now they are finally available. I called a local store to see if they had one, so I went yesterday and tried one out. I know this is a modeling amp, and some amp purists may not dig them, but I do, and this thing is loaded with goodies.
Let me begin by saying I do not play gigs or with a band, I play in my living room for my own ejoyment, no need for an 100 watt tube stack for me.
This amp is so simple. It is laid out so you can add analog stomp box effects before the amp, and digital rack style effects similar to an effects loop. There are some neat toys included.
The modeled are 6505+, XXX, JSX, Krankenstein, Rectifier, Diezel, Plexi, Twin, Deluxe, Bad Cat, Peavey Classic 50, & Brit-which I think is an old 60s Marshall 50w.
2 channels for each model. Red channel is the Drive channel (if that amp doesn't have a drive channell, imagine adding an OD pedal to that amp), while the green channel is clean for some models, or a crunch channel for some amps like the 6505 and the Rectifier. I really dig the 6505 and the DZL, I have to do a little more tweaking to the Krank and Recto Models to get a sound I like, but with all the overdrives and EQ available, that should be easily possible. My two surprise favorites so far are the Twin clean chennel, and the B-Kat amp model. Listening to the Twin, think about the clean sounds found in say, Metallica's Master of Puppets. Very rich sounding, especially with a Chorus added. The Bad Cat is really just a nice all round rock style amp. I plan to play around with this one quite a bit.
That's all I got for now, I need another afternoon to play around with all the toys.
