New build started!!!!

Re: New build started!!!!

You can use sandpaper and straightedges to joint edges should you need to. I survived with a router, drillpress and orbital sander being my main tools for quite a few builds.

This top was jointed with sandpaper on a level to make it square and smooth

Oh man! I'm in love with that finish, Alex.
Very smart putting a control cavity access cover in the back.

Re: New build started!!!!

Very beautiful so far. Can't wait to see more progress and especially the final product. Stain? Clear? Lacquer or poly?

Hope you've got strong shoulders...mahogany + walnut = heavy.

Re: New build started!!!!

Very nice design, but the pointy headstock looks out of place with the smooth lines of the body.
True, i might smooth out the point a little

Its gonna get a couple coats of satin nitro, i want to keep it natural with just a few thin coats to protect the wood....and as for the weight, like my last build ill do a nice size control cavity to loose some weight

Re: New build started!!!!

Did you consider doing any weight relief ("Swiss cheese" routing) before gluing on the walnut?

My next build is going to have a maple cap on swamp ash and I plan to have some strategically placed weight relief routs, even thought the ash is already pretty light to begin with.

Re: New build started!!!!

Started the neck carving which i hate doing, i always stress on that park...lol, but its coming out good, got a nice c profile going on

Re: New build started!!!!

Got a lot more done, frets installed body final shaped and sanded...at tgis point i need to order the floyd rose and get all that routing done along with the pickup and control cavity...then it will be ready for final sand and clear

Re: New build started!!!!

Forking A!!! That back is sexier than Jlo any day!! Neck thru, leading up to that sexy headstock.....

Re: New build started!!!!

Certainly does!!!

Do keep us up to date with the latest, I have a feeling it's gonna be one heck of a guitar!!!

Re: New build started!!!!

Im waitung on the floyd and other things for the guitar so i decided to put a couple of protective coats of lacquer on
