Phat Cats are very cool but they don't sound exactly like a P90. They're darker with a bit less sizzle. Not sure exactly why. I would say the covers but Duncan uses good (tonally transparent) covers.

I've made some Phat Cat-like pu's and even with a plastic cover they still come out a touch dark -- like the real Cat they still sound good but not like a real P90. I can't explain it.

I would like to see a p-90 like those z-single coils, would look like that fender humbucker with three on a side. Can that be done, or would it have to be larger than the humbucker size?

Zhang, do you think it's the bIgger brass (bUcker sized) base plate that's adding capacitance and warming up th PC's?
