A question: what scale did you use? It's more dissonnant than mine, which was a simple Am (C) scale. I'm in a learning phase these days
For the verse, it's an A pedal tone with D, E, and F over top. I was able to change the modality of the piece by accentuating the E instead of the A. This gives the song an E Phrygian feel. The pinch harmonics are E, btw.
For the brige, it's a G pedal tone; that's the dissonance (G being the minor 7th of A)/
For the solo, I start with Am arpeggios, descend with C Major, and then use the G note (3rd string, 12th fret) for the tapping. This pushes the modality a bit, too; the reason being that I wanted to modulate it to Em ...
The solo finished with E Pentatonic Minor. The harmony is C Maj Pentonic. The flurishes at the end of the solo are Em arpeggios.
The scale at the end of the track is straight up GMajor, descending, then ascending.
So, when I was jamming on it, I developed this theme:
Am Pentatonic - C Major - Am Pentatonic - G Mixolydian tapping - Em Pentatonic - G Major ...
... And
YES, I did put that much thought into the solo, even tho I blew it out pretty fast. I was trying to pull out some of those hidden notes in all those layered chords, and E kept coming back ... so I knew what my main 'theme' would be.
I hope that makes sense!!
