New Custom Cab Day! a bit understated though....

CTN

The Drama Dude
I actually got this a couple of days ago, but I wanted to clean up my practice room a bit before showing you all my messy room lol.

Got this custom handmade to my specs by Tim Pike of Saxon Cabs located in buttf**k nowhere, in Varney, Ontario.
It's a 2x12 cab, roughly the same dimensions as the Mesa rectifier 2x12 cab.
Birch ply construction, even the baffle and the back.
Taurus-style tolex like a Mesa, with the tan jute and white piping.
The baffle is slanted so that when it stands vertical, the speakers have some upward projection. It's got feet on two sides so I can stand it vertically like it is now, or horizontal if I want to.
I loaded it with a WGS Retro 30 and ET65 which sound great together, but they still need a lot of breaking in and are a tad fizzy at the moment. Otherwise, it's got a nice solid thump and very clear midrange.

That combination is just beautiful.

(So if I get amp acquisition syndrome, do I say I've got AAS?)

Lol no.

(I'm going to look like an idiot if you're joking, but F it, its 3:05 am here)

The G in GAS stands for Gear, so it pretty much covers anything.

Tim builds awesome cabs... This looks great and I'm sure it sounds killer!

Re: New Custom Cab Day! a bit understated though....

Yep, definitely looks great. The cab itself is very resonant, even when I'm not playing too loud. The fizzy top end is bugging me though. But I guess I can't really do much about that other than playing the crap out of it.

Love that grill!

I've had one of Tim's cab for the last 3 years, and It's still going strong! He makes great sounding stuff and he's a great guy too. He's also my supplier for Eminence speakers.

Re: New Custom Cab Day! a bit understated though....

cool man! I hope to do some basic custom 212 cab stuff too :)

Re: New Custom Cab Day! a bit understated though....

I do wish it was easier to access cabs out here, but the local shops are bloody useless. One day though...

I like the look of yours - can I borrow it?

is a drive to Dubai outta the question? Cuz I'm sure they're more plentily available there.

You may borrow it if you wish, but you have to find your own way to acquire it :p

You could plug a radio into the amp, crank it up halfway, and leave it playing all day. No one says you need a guitar to break in speakers.

Nice cab, but what caught my eye first was the RUG! Nice rug, too!

lol, it's an essential part of my tone arsenal, as my signature will attest. The tone is in the threads...much like a quality guitar strap.
