So, one of my projects this summer was to build myself a diagonal 2x12. Not hard to do and should've been fun.
When I added up the cost of everything, it turned out that for about 100$ more my speaker dealer could build it for me... it was kind of a no-brainer then: custom cab to my specs built by an experienced builder for 100$? Heck yeah!
So, I placed my order with this guy and just waited 2 weeks for it to show up.
Tim (the owner) was very nice, communicated great and was really fast too. If anyone here in Canada needs a cab, I can only recommend him strongly. He also has the best prices I found on the web for Eminence speakers for folks in Canada. He'll ship to the US too by the way.
Here are the specs:
-Dovetail joined 5/8'' Birch ply
-Diagonal 2x12
-Side handles
-Closed back (convertible)
-2 Eminence Governors wired in parallell for 8 ohms
-Wheat grill cloth with white piping
-Deliciously nice blue bronco tolex (I know you guys will hate it with the Orange heads and ask why I didn't go for black, orange or white but hey... it's my cab and my weird tastes!)
It was originally supposed to be slant but there was a mix-up and what the heck, straight sounds damned good so I'm not returning it, although Tim graciously offered that I return it so he could build me another one.
I haven't played more than 30 minutes through it but it really does sound good. Those Governors are really a great match for my Orange heads (sound good with my Killer Ant as well). The tone is punchy and tight but not boxy. I can't wait 'til the speakers break in.
