New DeMartini Custom Shop Pickup (my new favorite)

I just got my third Demartini pickup from the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop (my fourth will be the one that comes in the DeMartini Charvel when they eventually ship out) and this is definitely the best sounding pickup I have ever heard!!!! My first one was for my '06 Custom Shop oil finish Mahogany body Charvel Strathead with maple fretboard, and I was blown away. This pickup has amazing clarity, punch, and gain structure. It's a very high output pickup (17.3) and uses an Alnico II magnet. My tech (one of the best in California) put the first one in and called me right away, all hyped up about how great it sounded. I loved it so much, I ordered two more for a pair of USA Jackson Soloist's I just got (one '06 one '07). We put one in the '06 Jackson and compaired it side by side with the JB in the '07 Jackson. The difference was huge!!!! The DeMartini was louder, sweeter, and clearer, and had better punch, and gain structure by a long shot. I now have two Jackson's and soon will have two Charvel's (once I get my Crossed Sword's DeMartini Charvel) with this great new pickup. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a high output pickup that really exceeds expectation. It is available for order through the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop and is well worth the extra cash. :smokin:

You can learn more about the DeMartini RTM (rattus tonus maximus) pickup here.

Re: New DeMartini Custom Shop Pickup (my new favorite)

When was that released? I thought the Charvel model got bagged?

The Charvel model didn't get bagged, TheArchitect. It's back on track.

And Xssive, while I do announce products from time-to-time to forum members before the rest of the world, in this case, my hands were tied because of back room dealings between Warren and Fender. Even though I knew what was going on doesn't mean I can talk about it. Thanks for understanding.

i was just teasing you man, i know you're a busy guy and honestly never thought you'd remember on top of the other 8,000,000 things on your mind throughout the day and i 100% understand. i just e-mailed the custom shop about ordering one to go in my custom shop charvel i've had on order for over a year now....but that's another rant lol.

now tell us how you really feel.....just joking,i have a Charvel mahogany strathead and maple neck like you described and i'm very tempted to give it a try.

Also i went to the link that Evan provided and all 3 pick-ups in the link were all high output and all of them use alnico 2,there may be something here?
Is that to sweeten the tone?

Re: New DeMartini Custom Shop Pickup (my new favorite)

So this thing described sounds like a warmer JB with a little more ball and better clarity? I emailed the custom shop to see what it would cost to have one of my JB's to be converted.

DeMartini? In the words of Janet Jackson - "What have you done for me lately?"

I mean, sound like an awesome pup, but these days wouldn't he be getting in line at the custom shop like the rest of us? I'd make Jolly a custom pup before him - and I really like his stuff!

Re: New DeMartini Custom Shop Pickup (my new favorite)

T Erickson or Evan, can you compare it tonally to a C5or jb or something?? I know Alnico II characteristics, I know that 17.3 is a hot wind, but that doesnt tell me how it'll sound. With A2, I worry it'll sound like a Custom custom.
Can you give me a scenario like:
its like an CC, but less mid focused, hot enough to get ripping art harmonics like a custom and more highs than a CC but not a much as a C5 kind of thing?
Or its like a JB but with fatter mids.
Or make my dreams come true and say, its the brown sound except it can give harmonic squeals like a gibson 500t. :fingersx:
Thanks!

Dissing Warren! How dare you.

Re: New DeMartini Custom Shop Pickup (my new favorite)

I just saw the link Evan posted.....looking at the DiMartini, Lynch, and Ian models. I had no idea A2 could be that hot without being too buttery.

I might have to try that DiMartini in a LP. I've been swapping bridges like crazy in my Goldtop in the past couple years......C5, CC, Custom, Brobucker, 15.3 C5, Seth, The funny thing is I like them all, so it almost seems like another one is just redundant.

He's done quite a bit actually. Outside of Ratt he played on Jack Blades last solo record for example

Re: New DeMartini Custom Shop Pickup (my new favorite)

Not to mention, he was one of the five coolest heavy metal guitarists to come out of the eighties, something that tells quite a bit!

I'm getting one of them!

Re: New DeMartini Custom Shop Pickup (my new favorite)

I saw the WD model in the 06 Charvel catalog, then poof!...nothing.

and then there is this...

http://www.performanceguitar.com/

How can PG be building them and Charvel?

Those have been posted for a year or more, but I haven't heard much about them. Performance can be a hard company to deal with, and quite expensive, although I'm guessing their prices are similar to what the Charvel Custom Shop will cost.

I'm guessing the "who is actually building them" question has been part of the hold up. PG had this models up before Charvel announced the WD models.

Dissing Warren! How dare you.

Not so much a Diss as a "I don't get it?"

I'm just saying, nothing you've heard by him, to the best of my knowledge (which may be limited) was done with a pup that isn't commercially available.

And I haven't heard anything recently that made me say - Whoa!!!! DeMartini's new sound, I gotta cop that mojo!!!!

Am I missing something? Edumacate me....
