Wow, just realized the specs on this one.

17.6 K but with an Alnico II.........Hmmm.

Might have to check it out in one of my Les Pauls.

I know...I suck !!!

Actually, my wife decided we need a deck in the back yard to replace the gazebo we lost in a hurricane....so I've been busy running plans around for permits, digging a ditch for some electric etc etc....

I just got that very cool Peters amp that I've only gotten to play for about 30 mins with my regular Strat....gonna try the Snake on it tomorrow & if things go smoothly, I'll throw the WD in (can't promise though...).

I'm off all weekend, but busy busy from start to finish....next days off are next Wednesday & Thursday, so if I don't get it done tomorrow I PROMISE I'll do it first thing Wednesday morning !!!!!!!!

I wish I was set up for some type of recording so we could compare the difference, but I will say I really like the '78 & it may have to go in my regular Strat....or get another Super Strat going

FWIW.....the box of mine says it's 18.7k :scared: :eek2: :scared:

So with the alnico II, I'm expecting BRUTALLY SMOOTH !!! :laugh2:

Yeah, they told me it might be six weeks or something like that, which is fine since I'll be waiting on the neck and body for 2-3 months. The custom shop believes in deferred gratification. LOL

How about this. Any guess as to what it Should sound like based on the specs? Middy like a CC only super hot? Im sorry to nag, there is just alot of things going on in my life right now, that this will prob be the only time for quite awhile I can pay that for a pickup. But, I hate to pay that for something I may not like.. Its this or a PATB for my "Robin" charvel.

FINALLY.............

Got the time to throw it in & WOW !!!

Friggin' SCREAMIN' hot pickup but smooth at the same time, if that makes sense. Actually, to me it seems like a high output EVH/'78.

The '78 I've got, I had MJ bump it to 10k, which she did by bumping the mids a bit.....10k even.

The WD sounds ALMOST identical, to me, only higher output & a definite nod to the mids. The lows & highs seem evenly voiced, but the mids are up front without being too icepick in the ear.

I've played the CC & C5 before, never a JB.....it's comparable to a CC too; maybe a CC-'78 mix?????

Anyone else try one yet?

All in all, it's a keeper....as is the EVH.

I might throw the '78 in my other Strat or to be perfectly honest, Mike has me digging the Super Strat design....SIMPLICiTY!!!...maybe another Xssive clone ????!!!! :wink:

The specs sound like a JB with an A2 magnet. I have a JB wound to 17.6K, maybe I should put an A2 in it....

BloodRose, I think you need to order one for sure. If you don't like it, you can always knock $20 off of the cost and sell it outright to some one on here, because there would be "no 4 week wait".


Plus, being local to me.......I could own it like an hour after it goes up for sale!!!! :headbang:

I wish I had a CC right now to compare it....I would say it's not as in your face as the CC....smoother, but still bites.

Also, not sure if it's the guitar, amp or pickup, but the pinch harmonics were jumping off of it & I usually suck at them (when I WANT ONE)
