New EVH Wolfgang Special Day!! Yaaaaaaaay!!

Re: New EVH Wolfgang Special Day!! Yaaaaaaaay!!

You know, I haven't even thought anything about them being stainless steel until I read your post. Apparantly they seem normal to me...lol

Haha, there you go. I bet the bending is quite slinky.

There's a vid somewhere on YouTube where Ed talks about how they were a breakthrough, for him, saying something like if you've got a bogus guitar, it doesn't matter what frets are on it, pretty much says it all. I played a Parker once and my reaction was the same as yours.

is it true that the SS frets will NEVER wear out? so once you set em in, you'll never have any buzzing frets again from them getting low.....

Maybe 'never' is too strong a word, but certainly, it would take a very long time for any wear to show on them. Say you've got a couple of guitars that you rotate on a daily basis, it's doubtful that the one with ss frets will show any appreciable wear for yonks. You'd have to check out the discussion on Parker guitars that are approaching their third decade and see what people say.

Still, the pro's seem pretty significant; I'd definitely consider them when a full refret is due. I do a lot of bending and heavy vibrato, which wreaks havoc on nickel frets.

You know, I don't claim to be the greatest person or anything, but it makes me happy to make others happy. I'm glad you like the guitar. I don't know much about you but I know that guitar was meant to be in your hands. I'd love to hear a track of it through your Marshall. I'll bet it would be a tone that Ed himself would nod to.

Thanks to you too for the prompt payment. As a result, I was able to scratch a terrible itch...

But more about that in my NGD thread...

Awesome guitar! I've always like the concept of those.

Nice, black ones look awesome. I was thinking about my old Purple flame Wolf just the other day.... should have kept that one!

That sucks that you had to get rid of it.

Hey jolly hang on to it, EVH/Fender are going to cheap the hell out of Wolfgangs by moving the production to Mexico. I'll bet the Japanese ones will worth a ton after th garbage from Mexico shows up.

I much prefer the Special Flat Tops as opposed to the Fancy Arch Tops. Cool color too.

Do you have a source for that information or is it just speculation on your part?

Well the word from EVH is the factory is closing in Japan ( the same ones that make Charvels, bye bye to them too) and so as we speak the specials are going to be from Mexico now and 400 dollars less (maybe). But no drop in quality...LOLOLOL.

I personally think they are looking to cut corners and save a few bucks. EVH as a company seems a bit on the shaky side, bad frets, lousy support and never know what products will be available. It was also said maybe China may have a hand in production too. The China thing is the only maybe I've heard.

As far as I know Mexico is pretty much happening now. So grab the good ones while they last./....

Re: New EVH Wolfgang Special Day!! Yaaaaaaaay!!

Helldogg is almost spot on. FMIC is moving away from Japanese production models, although we were given a different reason. Another forum I'm on was trying to get a limited run of some Charvel guitars. I don't really know the specifics of the model or anything. Wasn't really that interested. However, they were turned down for the limited run because the Japanese production guitars were starting to cost too much. I also suspect it probably had something to do with the Japanese made guitars coming to close the U.S. made guitars quality wise. Fender has done the same thing a couple times in the past. People were buying the imports and ignoring the U.S. made guitars because they were equal or better in some cases. Typical big corporation shenanigans.

At any rate....Sweet guitar Jolly! Keep rocking it out!

They are so good it is sick...when you look at how little they cost those guitars are pure win. The only thing I dont lilke about these is the painted headstock on a maple fingerboard. It looks like pale old white man with a clubbed foot wearing black socks and black shorts.

Interesting fact: Tom Anderson wont make you a guitar with a painted headstock and a maple fingerboard. Why? Tom hates the way it looks.

I like the way it looks with the black headstock. I wish the white ones had a matching headstock.
