New Guard For My First Guitar, Look What I Did!!!

View attachment 62626 This is my 97 MIM Stratocaster, it started life out as a Fat Strat & it has had, I don't know, hundreds of different pickups in it over the years? It was my first "REAL" guitar, I bought it new in 98. I played it, loved it, & then I became a tinkerer? Now I own six Stratocasters & a slew of other guitars so I've pretty been using this one to build pickguards or at least try them out after they were built??? The action on it was a mess & forget about any kind of intonation!!! To save time while switching guards I'd wrap the neck in tape, loosen the strings a bit, & take off the neck, swap guards, & put the neck back on, try out the guard, & move it to another guitar, LOL! That's what kind of guitar it had become! Today I was about to install yet another guard in my Flame Top, a very cool TB-PG & Phat Cat guard with one Vol., one tone & a paper & oil cap, when I realized there's no Humbucker route in the neck??? How dumb! I could not believe I never checked before starting this thing! Anyway it became apparent that I was going to have to hack away @ a guitar if I wanted a H/H Strat. So I grabbed the old Blacky & some hand tools, in a half hour it was a perfect half swimming pool route & I didn't care what it looked like!!! So It comes out really good, I mean awesome & I started to think about doing something with the neck. A few turns of the truss & a little work on the bridge & BAM, perfect, straight as an arrow!!! So now I got this BADASS H/S Stratocaster that's literally playing better than it ever has before & best of all I always wanted a Big Apple Strat when I was a kid, now I got something that looks just like one but sounds much better!!! Guess I need to buy another MIM beater huh???
