New Guitar Day, First Jackson Ever

Re: New Guitar Day, First Jackson Ever

Not a bad trade, though I'm a considerable Jackson fanatic. Given the wear on the frets, and the cost of work involved in replacing/treating them, I'd say you did well.

As well, DK2Ms are rather plentiful on the used market, and can be found in various states of condition (same price for one in great shape as one that's been trashed, oftentimes).

I'm not a fan of Strat-styles in general, and the Dinkys and Soloists I've had over the years have all been passed on, but a while back I was snapping up loose DK2M necks to put on the Warrior bodies, and now have 6 mutts :D

The SL2H is USA made. The old 90s SL2 was USA made with import hardware. The current import SLs should be the SL3 and on. If there's an SL2 import now, it would have to be an MG or such, which is part of the model # (SL2MG, SL2DX, etc).

Well there's the SL2Q right now that's coming out of the Mexico, that's what crossed my mind. Dunno why I forgot about the SL2H.

It's your guitar and your playing it–so no strange looks from me! :)

Thanks man, I appreciate that. I know some players get caught up in being fanboys for certain makers, they forget that there are other companies out there doing neat and innovative things. I have always been a Dean fan, and when the opportunity came up to get this one, I jumped at it. I wanted to share the news over on the Dean forum, but it's been down for something like six days now. I wonder what's going on over there?

Most welcome dude! I've learned not to be a brand-snob, at one time I was exclusively a Charvel guy and thought everything else was sub-par. I've since learned how amazing Fenders, Gibsons, etc. are and how many brands have some cool stuff out there. Just like cars and clothes...I don't look down on someone because of a specific brand. Enjoy the guitar man, hope you get a ton of use out of it!
