Well I finally got my her back from being set up and I have to say that it plays and sounds fantastic!

Specs:
Headstock: 3x3 Sperzel Locking Tuners, Graphite Nut

Unfinished Maple/Ebony Neck: 22 Medium Jumbo Frets, Compound Fretboard, Standard Thin Back Shape.

Hard Ash Tele Body with Dakota Red Finish

Seymour Duncan Broadcaster Pickup with standard Esquire Wiring.

Switchcraft Out Jack, Fender CTS 250k pots, Fender USA 3 way switch, Orange Caps.

USA Bigsby B5 Tremolo with tele conversion kit.

Dunlop Strap Locks and Vintage Style Fender Strap.

I have to say that this is my best playing guitar! It sounds really good too! It is staying in tune really well even with some heavy trem action. The locking tuners and the graphite nut help a lot! I also had them put some 11's on there too. I normally play with 9's or 10's, but I haven't had a problem with the 11's because of the 3x3 head stock. It actually feels looser on the high strings than my guitar with the strat headstock and 10's which is great! LOL. Even the strap is great! I always get iritated because I put the strap locks on and down the road I decide I want to change the stap height and I have to take the locks off and it is such a PITA, but this one unhooks in the middles so I don't have to worry about that now! HA!

The dark setting isn't very usable yet. I need to fool around with it some more. I might be able to get a mutted jazz box-esq tone out of it if I experiment with my amp settins some.

The normal tele bridge pup sounds just like a tele, but with a little bit of the extreme highend and twang rolled off.

The bright setting is like the regular tele pup on say 11. Bright, but with just a bit of twang rolled off.

This guitar would work better for blues or rockabilly than country, but it still can do country. It just doesn't have quite the twang of a fixed bridge 3 saddle tele.

Over all I am extremely happy with this guitar!

Neck came from Warmoth. It had been sitting in my basement for about a year (a project long given up on.) It was originally a LP style head stock, but when I decided to use it for this guitar I started trimming it down. Vibrolux's snakehead esquire repilca put the idea in my head for using this headstock.

The body also came from Warmoth. I picked it up out of the showroom. I think they said it weighed in ~5lbs.

Now for your viewing pleasure. More pictures....

That is is very nice bro. It gives me MAJOR tele and bigsby GAS. The sparkle and bright polished aluminum remind me of a classic hot rod car!

Looks great bro! I know you say it plays great... but does it still sound and feel like a Tele?

Re: New Guitar! (Pictures)

Other than the headstock, I like it!! Ash, Maple, Ebony, three really nice bright tonewoods for a Tele!!

Don't tell anyone it's the jag bridge ;)

Actually I sorta really like that, now put a neck pickup in it :D

I'm even fine with the bigsby somehow

I love it! The trim of the 3x3 headstock looks really accurate, and a 5 lb. ash body sounds like a real find! I love the jag bridge!

Did you paint it? I really like the cut of the headstock, too.

Re: New Guitar! (Pictures)

Looks pretty cool. I might consider changing the knobs and painting the headstock red with a white truss rod cover if I were you...

Re: New Guitar! (Pictures)

Eric, that is truly gorgeous, you did a fine job!! I even like the bigsby and I usually don't. I think the 3 on a side headstock looks really cool as well!! Congratulations on a job well-done!!

Re: New Guitar! (Pictures)

Change those f'ing knobs right now, or be banned from the SDUGF forever. Your decision.

Somebody NEEDS to make me an admin so these meaningless threats have weight!!!

Re: New Guitar! (Pictures)

Thanks for all of the kind words!

d1dsj it has a very tele sound, but with slightly less twang.

danglybanger I really enjoy the jag bridge. It keeps everything I like about the tune-o-matics, but with more adjustablity!

Sludgenutz I didn't paint it. I was prefinished by Warmoth. I got it from the showroom.

ibanezrocks- I have a bad time finishing guitars so the head stock is staying plain. I might look for a white truss rod cover that could be cool. I'm leaving the knobs I think it adds to the hotrodded look. Plus if I have a tone knob I have to have numbers on them so I can remember where I like to have it set lol.

BigAlTheBird- For the last time I'm not changing the knobs! :nana: Send me a set of chrome knobs with numbers on them and I will gladly change them just for you ;)

Re: New Guitar! (Pictures)

Eric, that's a really cool collection of parts I never would have thought of putting together!

I saw it yesterday, and the 3+3 peghead really threw me, but I looked at it again this morning, and now it looks like everything works together really well. Even the knobs.

Re: New Guitar! (Pictures)

I luv it. Even the knobs. Just needs a neck pup and a snakehead headstock ;).

Really cool, congrats.

Dangly... WTPorcelainThrone?!

+1 kinda. I've been keeping an eye on this thread and the more I look at it the more I think the headstock looks pretty cool. I still think the white knobs look weird on the chrome. I should really post some pics to revive that thread I made about finishing my tele project (died quickly after people realized I had no pics) so that everyone can criticize my unusual choice of knobs as well.
