new guitar!!!

alright, so i was laying down playing guitar when my parents come back from wherever they were. and my mom tells me to go outside and get the rest of the stuff in the car, so i open the trunk and BAM!!!!

theres a gig bag there fillew with a strat :)

thats pretty much all i wanted for christmas, a fender strat so i could use it for my funk, blues, country, etc... stuff. and now i got it

it's a simple fender standard strat, 3 tone sunburst finish, maple fretboard and all the other stuff in the standard strats.

i was surprised by it, it sounded great acoustically. it had nice sustain to it and when through my amp, it sounds great!! the texas specials aren't that bad, but im definitely taking them out for the antiquities im buying :)

so far, it's all good!!

im gonna lock down the trem when i change strings and put the new pickups in. probably put 10's on it when i change em.

one question though...

is there a company that makes vintage trems that are nice?
i guess eventually i'll deck it all out, with warmoth neck and a graphit nut and locking tuners so i'll be able to use the trem.

it's looking good for now, lets see how it turns out when i fix it all up :)

A lot of people recommend Callaham bridges ...

Re: new guitar!!!

Re: new guitar!!!

Congrats!!

I know you were talkin about getting one. If it were mine, I'd just play 'er for a little while & find what you do & don't like about it before making any changes. Sometimes the the best change is the one that's never made (whoa, that's deep :laugh2: ) Just give it some time, you'll know what to do.
Oh, thank Mom for all of us, she made us happy. :) Happy Holidays, bro !!!

Peace,

Darrin

Re: new guitar!!!

yeah i know that too

i know the action needs to be raised a little on the higgher strings. i know i need to level the bridge out, which i'll be doing soon. other than that, it's damn nice right now. i'll do what you said and i'll go form then

:)

Re: new guitar!!!

to quote Hoss "New stuff ROCKS"

have fun with it and don't be in to big a hurry to change anything but the strings. Callaham has very nice parts, possibly the best around for strats and teles but they are expensive. There is a separate price list and you can't order over the internet but they are very fast to ship stuff out. Good luck

Darrin, that was way to deep, but very true

Re: new guitar!!!

Wow congrats man! Is it an USA? Either way, what a Xmas present! Those strats always sound nice unplugged, I know I love mine

I heard someone once say that sometimes the best pickups are the stock ones. Seeing how we were discussing guitars priced under $500, I felt the need to remind him that he'd never replaced any of his pickups :)

Re: new guitar!!!

happy holidays!!! enjoy your guitar!!!

Re: new guitar!!!

thanks guys

it looks like no other changes are needed except for the bridge and pickups. the bridge isn't level with the body and i've known im gonna be changing pickups for a while.
it sounds really good, i used it for church today and it sounded great. great clean tones. nice distorted tones too, and not much feedback.
