Re: New Guitar

A good LP.. you can do anything with them. I not tend to choose Sig or special design guitars (in your case, Zakk, KH or Iommi) because as time goes by, you'll change style/mind and you might regret it. And those cheaper versions (LTD, Epi, PRS SE) will depreciate in value more than its USA counterparts IMO.

EPI LP Customs are top-of-the-line. Of all the recent Epis I've seen/played, 90% of the Standards and cheapers were made of alder with slim maple veneer on top, whereas 90% of the Customs were mahogany, with a thick 1/4-1/2 maple cap (check inside the cutaway for an evidence of thick cap).

Yeah, a LP Custom.

Re: New Guitar

And also, think about it : a LP is fine for any Metal/HardRock. James and Kirk use them, Adrian Smith, Zakk, and many others.. put in some hot pickups for metal (EMG, DD,...), some old school ones for Rock (JB, C5, PAF... )

That's why I wouldnt consider the ESP/LTD and Ibanez.

Re: New Guitar

I say you get a new amp before a new guitar.

Re: New Guitar

Les Paul or Strat. They'll do anything. If you don't like Strats, go with a Tele. They're an ugly instrument, but God, they're versatile as hell...

Re: New Guitar

just a thing: if you want the ibanez one, don t take the 2570 ex.it is NOTHING more than the 1570 but ******* dimarzio pups.and it s more expensive.

Re: New Guitar

I'd go with the Tremonti SE...best Korean built guitar I've ever tried. PRS isn't going to risk damaging their reputation by compromising on quality, even on their SE models.

I voted Epi LP Classic Plus. As Thames mentioned the quality was an issue when I bought my LPCP. I checked the pickup cavities and found that the body was solid mahogany with a thick maple cap. This goes along way in producing the tones you associate with a classic LP. You can't go wrong with a good Les Paul.

Re: New Guitar

I'd say kh 602. You can't go wrong with that axe for metal. It's got some good features like the neck thru, original floyd, and it already has EMG 81s in it so you don't have to pay someone to change the pickups out. ESP makes good stuff and alot of metal players use em like Jeff Hanneman, Kirk, James, and Dave Mustaine. Thats just my opinion though. If I were you I'd go try as many of those out as you can so you can make a real decision. Think with your ears and not your eyes. Whatever sounds and feels good to you should be the one.

Keep it Metal :headbang:

That's Blasphamy, you'll smoke a turd in hell for that one! LOL! I happen to think that the Tele is one of the most beautiful guitars ever.......

Re: New Guitar

On your list I like either the Epiphone Les Paul Custom or the Zakk Wylde LP. The Zakk LP that I played was a great guitar, though I personally don't care for the graphics much, I thought the guitar played really well, stayed in tune really well and sounded pretty decent. I would change the pups on that guitar to whatever you want, but other than that, fairly nice guitar.

Re: New Guitar

I havent played all of those on the list but i liked the Tremonti SE alot, very nice, felt substantial and played nice aswell.

Re: New Guitar

I say find a used LP standard. I love my LP more every day. Change the pickups to taste but the stock burstbucker Pros are nice but a little vintage.

I realized that James and kirk started using LPs much mor and the odd SG Standard. I also noticed that a few pictures show Kirk playing an LP with passive pickups which is weird because he is an EMG endorser. Check the dean Marlkey site as their is a shot of him on a nice LP with passives.

Re: New Guitar

But look at his amp...Man, you need a new amp, new pickups, and a book on grammar ;), not a new guitar.
