New HB cabinets with green/creambacks

Here’s a comparison. Even though each speaker is mounted in a 1x12 cabinet it gives you a good idea how each speaker sounds. When I was looking for replacements for my Peavey 5150 212 and empty Avatar 212 cab I choose the Creamback’s. To me, they have a warmer sound which I prefer.

I guess I can understand that. As much as I agree with what I think you're implying (the V30 is EXTREMELY mid-pushed), it is on so many records (especially metal), that that's kinda the sound many associate with good-sounding (recorded) guitars.

So yeah, rather than calling it "neutral", I'd call it "familiar".

yes, that is what i was implying. familiar i will 100% get behind. neutral suggests a flat response to me, which i dont hear from a v30 at all. great speakers though obviously, as shown by just how much they are used and recorded

I think that the 70/80 is more neutral sounding. Probably the reason why many don't like it.

Is it for the cab you posted in the other thread? Keep in mind MDF cabs do tend to be a bit darker than plywood cabs too!

And I don't know about other closed back cabs, but my Orange 1x12 and my friends Mini Recto 1x12 were noticeably darker under the mic than my Marshall 4x12. I think there's the common misconception that larger cabs are just bassier. But in fact, they're just broader, both in lows and highs, IME.
