I was halfway kidding. There is nothing wrong with their pickups, but in my most humble opinion, the Jazzmaster sounds best with one tone- the vintage Jazzmaster tone. It's fat, smooth, and bassy with just a tiny bit of grit from aging the pickup. What I am getting at is I wouldn't do the 180. I would drop vintage sounding Jazzmaster pickups in there and nothing else. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DOES A HUMBUCKER EVER BELONG IN A JAZZMASTER!!! So please for the sake of all things heavenly, don't drop a humbucker in there.
I fully support the SD Antiquity Jazzmaster pickups. They are what I put in mine and I will die supporting them after the tone they have given me.

I love Jazzmasters and I love Dinosaur Jr but that ****ing scratchplate makes me want to drink acid and then puke it directly into my own eyes.
Good price, though. If it was a lefty I'd probably grab one and swap the plate. I like JMs but I don't need one enough to justify the price of a good one.

Now, that would be seriously cool. IMO, so would that pearlescent Emerald Green that the Fender Custom Shop used to offer.
EDIT - One thought. Looking at the Fender website pic, the Sq CV JM bridge appears to have a small screw where the vibrato tailpiece locking button ought to be. Is this the case or are my eyes deceiving me?

the Novak 180 is not a humbucker. It is a coil tap-able single coil.
i spoke to him directly and he said tapping it just drops the output (so it's less "hot").

I tried a similar idea on my CIJ Jaguar using an SSL-3T. (It will fit under the PU cover and claw.) Neither sound was right - hot or tapped.
I agree with jc and Kam. You either want the unique Jazzmaster sound enough to buy one or you don't want a Jazzmaster. (Same goes for a Jaguar.)
