So, open your wallet, point it at the nice guitar retailer and say to him (or her), "Repeat after me. Help Yourself."

I often show up at my favorite local store, so much so that they know me by name.

I once joked that I'm "a fight with my girlfriend away from getting a loan and buying an ES-137, a Gibson EB-0 and a Blackstar stack.

He can't, really. They only made the EC Jazzmaster for, I think, one year. And that was in 2009. There might still be a couple hanging on walls in shops here and there, but they're gonna be pretty tough to find.

Finally came across one of the JMJM's and I love it. I really like the VM version as well but it doesn't feel as quite as solid to me. Probably the bridge but the neck on the J Mascis version is great and a little more modern than the vintage feel of the VM.

I would like Sonic Blue better though so if I find one in the next few days maybe that'll win out.

the Novak 180 is not a humbucker. It is a coil tap-able single coil.
While I dont know alot about the 180 I had Curtis Novak Pups in my old jag and am planning on putting them in my Squier and think they sound great, never tried SD Jag pickups so cant compare to them but a massive improvement over the CIJ pups in there before and more then I expected. So +1 for that idea

I was lent my friend's original 1962 Jazzmaster one weekend, and I wouldn't change anything to it. It was all stock, and had the most unique tone off any guitar I ever played. Played through distortion, it had a Kurt Cobain tone. Played clean it was similar to a Gretche/ surf music.

It wasn't versatile, it had a handful of tones but they were great
