Re: New Mesa Model
The clips sounded really good. It's probably just me, but I generally don't like the metal demos for most amps, this one included. (Or at least the official Mesa one I just listened to) I know it's appealing to a younger demographic (yeah I'm old) of metal players. But the riffage and really tight, dry sounding metal tone is just not my thing.
LOL I was thinking the same thing.
They should have brought John Petrucci in to ring out some badass chords to really hear what that amp can do on channel 2 and 3. John loves to show off the chugging abilities of Mesa amps and I think with him doing so , we all could hear what that amp sounds like before any of us can go plug into one.
I watched that video many times and used my main theater rig and Head phones to really try to hear what this amp sounds like. I heard what I wanted but also heard in those tones many more possibilities with this head.
My concern will be the right cab to get with it. I'm wondering if the Vertical 2 x 12 will sound as good as the Horizontal 2 x 12. Not to mention if the head is to wide or will fit properly on top of a vertical 2 x 12 Mesa Cab Recto.
Every single feature and ability screams my new amp. It's exactly everything I have been looking for for years now. I thought the EVH 5150 III 50 watt head was going to be the one or the 2 x 12 combo they offer but they didn't work out for me after ownership of only a week.
Blackstar Series 1 stuff I've been all around tried out and dug into and just couldn't get the tones I was after one of them.
The Mesa Mark V is incredible , I love everything about it except the fact NO MIDI. I would require a Amp Gizmo to control it and thats just another expense I'd prefer not to have to do. I'd rather put that money into something else then having to have yet another 3rd party piece just to switch amp channels.
If the Mark V had Midi , I would already own one. That is one hell of an amp and I actually like it better, much better then the JP-2C. I was actually Disappointed in the JP-2C as I felt it sounded a bit muffled compared to the more open sounding Mark V.
This TC-50 seems to fit the Mark V bill even losing the EQ I could care less. I don't need a EQ built in to dial in what I want. I was able to dial the Mark V without the EQ section and get incredible tones out of it. The TC-50 without yet plugging in seems to be right up that alley and maybe possibly better for me at least.
I'm gonna call my Local Mesa Dealer ( Russo's in Trenton NJ) and learn when they are getting in one of these incredible awesome heads. They have all the Recto Cab's there and a few Charvel guitars so I don't even have to bring one of mine. If they have one there now, I'm already on my way. I gotta plug into this thing as for me honestly this head is a dream come true.
I have spec'd out a dream amp in my mind and this amp just nails it. I hope my expectations don't explode on me as I have had my hopes up a few times with trying to get a new amp only to walk away completely disappointed in the fact every amp I have thought would be the one is always missing something I want. I'm not settling this time around on an amp that is almost what I want. I want what I want and if I plug into the TC-50 and it sounds as I think it's going to sound then it's mine and I finally found home.
