here in Canada the MIM Standards street prices are back up to basicly the same street price they hit a few years ago... a few years back for a short while a MIM Standard strat or tele was $550 for a solid finnish and $575 for a sunburst... now they are getting close to that price again...

some of the older 2006/07/08 MIM's the store still has in stock are $479... they were $399 last summer

sitting here i have real bad GAS for one of these new Blue ones... i want to mod it heavy to 2 hunbuckers with a new guard and Gotoh bridge, but i bet once i buy one i'll keep it stock

MF has the LPB/rosewood for $550. i bought my white/rosewood (rosemont?) for $400 out the door a year ago.

i guess time will tell what the street price is gonna be

All the new MIM's I saw just 2 days ago were $449, and that includes 2 LPB Strats w/ rosewood boards.

The new 09 pricing has just gone into effect. I spoke with a guy at Sam Ash and the MIM Standards are now going for $549.99,the MIA Standards are now $1249.99 and so on......Believe me,i don`t like it. Some online stores as well as ebay stores are also showing these price increases. I`ll have to pick up a nice used MIM Standard before things go all crazy!

Ok, let's clear something up here. The LPB and CAR finishes are $550.00. The Brown Sunburst is $474.99. Midnight Wine, Black and Arctic White are $449.99.

It's not uncommon anywhere for metallic and sunburst finishes to have a little markup on them.

good point. so apples to apples my LEFTY 2007 bought about a year ago, in 08, white/RW was $400 out the door, and MF sells the same thing for $449.

so its like $70 more (sales tax!), not so bad

No, it's not bad at all. The MIM's are still a great value. I love my American Standard but I paid $499 for it back in 1994 WITH case...... BRAND NEW! The prices for those is quite a bit higher now than they were then but at the same time, there's inflation. Wages are higher here, which is why there's a larger price increase from then until now. The MIM's have gone up only approx. $200 in that same time frame.

The price increase is annoying, and probably poorly timed, but I honestly think that Fender is now making their best guitars since the Leo Fender era. The American Standards are really, really nice guitars in every way, and the Mexican Standards are not far behind. A new MIM Standard with a few cheap upgrades is a great guitar ... my next Strat will probably be a MIM Standard, in fact.

I've always liked that color on teles, especially with a mint green or black pickguard.

Not this year. They never offer the same metallic finishes on the MIM's and American Std's at the same time.

Case in point..... Midnight Wine. That color was a MIA color first, which mine is, and then in the late 90's it went to the MIM line and off the MIA line. It's not even the same shade now, a tad lighter than it was when the MIA line had it.

good deal... i saw 3 Wine with rosewood board MIM strats come into the store used once... all from 2002 2003... some guy had all 3 and wanted a better guitar so traded them in... i should of bought one...

This one has an all Maple neck and a sweet one to boot,real nice grain and a great feel. It`s actually spot on as well as far as setups go,just needed new strings. I`m lovin it. The ceramic single coils in these guitars are very underrated imo,great with distortion yet still can get those classic Strat tones as well.

The Squier Vintage Vibe series went way up too.. when they first came in last fall the first batch was $299... then before xmas they were $389... and now $489... dam!

a White metallic flake Squier Standard Deluxe with Duncan Designed PU's for $349 is looking like a better deal altogether in the cheapie world! Even that axe was $299 a month ago..
