You need to improve on your time and rhythm. Your melodic lines need to swing and you need to be more creative with your melodic cadence.

Check out Emily Remler's Hot Licks videos on youtube. Here is an excerpt:

There's more on youtube, so look at them all when you get time.

For your accompaniment, you need to lose the pick and the strum. Start out by listening to some Freddie Green type chord vamps. Also adjust your tone. You need your tone to be darker IMO. Not all jazz players use a dark tone, but it takes time to learn to control brighter tones in Jazz. The darker Jazz tones come more naturally to a player. Over time you will learn to use brighter tones, but they have to "fit in" if you catch my drift.

This video will hopefully give you some ideas.

lol, I thought it was pretty dece?

alright, I'll just scratch the whole thing...

but on a more serious note, I didn't pay much attn to tone on this, I was more worried about the playing. I know freddie vamps...just chuck chuck chuck chuck...etc. simple enough, I just thought I'd do something moderately different. i haven't memorized any licks enough to actually work them in to playing, it sounds like **** if I try to get "more creative" with my playing. it basically just comes as ass, and yeah....I just need to practice...everything I guess
