This time I used my Ibanez SA160QM with DiMarzio Super Distortion in bridge. That pickup is HEAVY! Killer tones for lead too.

Yeah, I think that'd sound great if you play metal or other types of hard rock. It's a great pickup for huge solos and fat rhythm.

shreder75, I actually didn't use any sort of mic. I just plugged my guitar into my Digitech GNX3 Guitar Processor and then straight into my Tascam Pocketstudio 5 digital recorder. You must be joking though, dude! I heard your clips and you could kick my ass any day, no joke!

No problem, xerxes. I'm just glad you actually listen to my clips. I think a lot of guys here probably just skip over my clips because it says NES and not something like "blues/classic rock" or "Yngwie shred" :yell:

Actually, Castlevania stuff is kicking my ass. I tried to do some, but that stuff is just so insane. It's all fast and neoclassical. I'll keep trying and see where it goes though. :13:

wow, no mic? killer, man..sounds GREAT! I've been tryin' to direct record and as you can see, my vetta right into my sound card doesn't sound half as good as your clips do..I can't beleive how tubey and lifelike they sound, man..how much does one of those tascam pocket studio's cost by the way?

oh, not to butt in on another conversatino you're having, but I LOVE the castlevania theme song =D I wouldn't imagine that would be easy..the harmony's kinda all over the place as you said...I guess the rythm wouldn't be so hard..or at least, not as hard as the harmony...could just go off the root note of the bass...I can hear it in my head..of course, that doesn't mean I can play it! lol

rock on, brutha...sounds killer..really diggin' the tones and the quality and the playing...

Thanks, shreder75! Tascam Pocketstudios are about $299 these days. I bought it a little after it came out for $399 :smack: Some of the guys here say it's better to mic those Line 6 amps. I used to plug direct into my Tascam and used its guitar FX processor, but the tone was horrible, so I think all my tone really comes from the Digitech GNX3. You might wanna check that out, I think it's about $149. The Tascam's a bit limiting though, only 4-tracks and no virtual tracks. I do what I can with it though :13:

As for Castlevania, I was trying to learn "Aquarius" from Castlevania III. Almost got it down, but it's too damn fast! I'm gonna keep on pluggin away at it till I get it down though :wink:

so the tascam pocketstudios use a sound card?
you record with it, then send it to your computer?

i've never recorded anything like that, usually someone just held up a handheld mic up to my amp while i was playing

last thing I'm gonna do is spend more money, bro..lol...just bought a new guitar! so I'm set for awhile...I'll just have to suck it up as far as the recording quality goes on the direct outs..some people are getting good sounds, but it just takes awhile...I dig what's comming out of the speakers though so that's most important to me..

still though, for four tracks it sounds great! can't ya bounce multiple tracks down to one track though? I know it's not the best for quality but if you really need an extra track it's always an option

castlevania 3...never played that! although I loved super castlevania for SNES =D
