Yesterday I was in another city and stumbled onto this one. It's a 1993 Washburn Stevie Stephens SS-40 high end import. It was FILTHY, the frets were green, the action was ultra high and it was unplayable but I saw a diamond in the rough. I walked out of the shop with this one for $200 WITH a hardshell case.
What I saw was a guitar that was dirty and a mess in the set up but also intact and virtually unplayed. After about three hours of cleaning and set up she is coming around nicely. Who says there are no deals left in the Pawn Shops?
I still have a little work to do and until I get the intonation set and a couple of other things done I don't want to clip the strings. Below the grunge and neglect she was almost mint and even the gold on the trem was mostly intact. The neck adjusted out well and it's becoming a pretty nice player.
Here is an unfinshed quick photo of the SS-40 diamond that is no longer so rough.
