New member
Replaced my Burstbuckers with Mr. Seymours Pearly Gates. Just as advertised they are awesome.

I also did the tail wrapping thang. Very smooth. Should have done this years ago. Thank you Duane, Billy G and Joe B.

as much as i like the bb1 & BB2, id swap a pgb in there in a heart beat. the bb1 could stay

Good choice. I have two Les Pauls, and my first one has the PG’s. I loved them, and I did the 50’s wiring harness also with CTS pots and the PIO tone caps. But my newer Lester has D. Allen P-51’s which I think I like even more. Just a bit ruder, more chime and clarity. I think both sets are a step up over the stock sets. Congratulations and enjoy.

I probably wouldn't swap BB1/2's. Maybe a 3. Definitely a Pro.

I liker PG's better than any of them though....

You did good. The PGs are wonderful pickups. Let's see this guitar, though!

Quite a difference to my ears. The Pro's seemed harsh and I never really got them dialed in. Soon as I plugged in new the PG's the difference was amazing (to me). Maybe it's just my Neanderthal brain but my amp even sounds better.

Not sure if the top wrap changes the tone but the LP plays much smoother

Be sure to play with the screw and pickup height! It can get better depending on the guitar and what your ear likes. I dropped the treble side p/up height a mm or two and raised the treble side screws up to almost touching the high e and liked it even more.

going from bb pros to the pgs is absolutely something i can get behind. never liked the pros much and the pgs are some of my favorites!

on the pg neck i like it a little low with the screws raised, where on the bridge i like the screws sunk down flush with the top

The best use I've found for any of the Burstbuckers is to hold pictures and paper on my refrigerator. The PG's or just about any SD set is a major improvement.

I've always liked the idea of the Pearly Gates Bridge but I've only used high output pickups but after a while they all start to sound and feel the same. I'm wondering if a PG might wake up my single hum mahogany Charvel into a 5150ii for some sweet metal tones?

Well, going from high output pickups to vintage output certainly feels different, even if you boost the gain a lot. You'll notice increased clarity and probably explore more dynamic styles, too. PGs are really great in mahogany.

I was always a little suspect of players that could hear differences in changes made to guitars and amps; but I'm now a believer.
