New Pickguard Day: Fat Strat

OH THE DOUBLE THICK GLAZE!

Went back to a more versatile pickguard from the HHx. Also went back on my hateration of true single coils. I have 1 single coil now, an SSL6, and it's hackin it and sounding good with the P90s.

I mean it's technically SSS. Enjoy having a neck pickup. You might like it more than the middle.

Yep, it's probably the only single coil guitar I'll have. Hums are my favorite. I decided to go back and compromise on a fat single coil guitar since I realized a lot of the new wave I like is single coils with chorus haha. And a lot of other good rock too.

The 1 A9 in the bridge PC is making crazy combos in bridge middle and bridge neck. Quack but with upper mids. A9 is A8's evil twin.

Re: New Pickguard Day: Fat Strat

Very nice. The p90 sound especially good. Are they both phat cats? The neck sounded great.

Re: New Pickguard Day: Fat Strat

Thx, yes they're Phat Cats. The neck is a Phat Cat bridge with A5 and A6. Definitely sounds more stratty with the A2s swapped out. The bridge is my custom shop 12k Phat Cat with A5 and A9.

Re: New Pickguard Day: Fat Strat

Thanks. I might go A5/A6 in the bridge also. The A9 has some spiky upper mids. It's unique but something smoother might be good for that pup. Dunno.

Re: New Pickguard Day: Fat Strat

I think I have to keep the A5/A9 bridge. That's what I wanted in the first place, half ice pick half fat. Too bad the middle and bridge are compressed tho. Oh well. I think it's a really good single coil ax. Gonna replace the 6.8nf ceramic cap with an orange drop when it arrives.

Re: New Pickguard Day: Fat Strat

I love the A5/A8 combination in my bridge P-90s. Might be a little less spikey than the A5/A9.

I had A6/A8 in there at first and it sounded good. Decided to go with A5/A6 since it didn't need any more mid push.

The A8 really smooths out the highs nicely. My favorite magnet atm.

I like it too. I have it in my HHx.

Hardtail strat. :approve::headbang:

Yas!

Here's another demo. Position 1,3,5,4,2.

Re: New Pickguard Day: Fat Strat

Thx. I agree, it's a really good pickup. One of Duncan's best.
