New pickups in my Sterling Stingray

I put a set of Custom 5/Jazz pickups in my Stingray. Used this guitar at the last two gigs and it sounds amazing. I don't like how the pickup poles line up on the Custom 5, but I've got a trembucker version coming next week.

Who cares about the looks of the polepieces if it sounds awesome?

Have you compared that guitar with other EB/MM guitars? I use a Silhouette Special and a USA SUB1. These new ones look really cool.

First one I've ever owned. Never tried a real MM guitar. Can't afford them anyways.

Re: New pickups in my Sterling Stingray

Yeah, I can't either, but I bought the Silhouette Special used, and had a trade for the other one. If you get a chance to play any of the higher end MM guitars, try to. They are remarkable.

I like this Stingray I have. First time ever playing a guitar with an asymmetrical neck profile. Feels weird at first after playing one of my other guitars, but I like it.

How are those SUBs? They pop up at fairly palatable prices every once in a while

Re: New pickups in my Sterling Stingray

They are great guitars to mod. Very mid-heavy though (due to the poplar body?). I use a Custom 5 and Jazz (a combo I would rarely like) to knock down the mids, and it is perfect. I love the textured paint, too. Mine is cinnamon, which is a brown flip-flop paint color that can be green, purple, or red depending on angle.

Just a warning on the trembucker, when you buy a Warmoth pickguard for a trembucker guitar, the cut a slightly different sized slot for it. I don't know if it really makes much of a difference, but it might (I wouldn't know, I always buy warmoth pickguards if I need a pickguard that isn't a direct replacement)
