Good looking grain on the back...it's a little more balanced looking. Too bad that wasn't the front.

I've never been a fan of the paddle headstock. Is the neck solid maple?

Well, it's going to be painted, but very thinly. Grain will only be visible up close as "texture".

It's actually a Squier Standard neck that had a Floyd nut installed on it. I got it cheap figuring that if I don't like it I can flip it and get a neck from elsewhere. It does feel nice, though, so I think it will work. And, yes, it is a one-piece with a skunk stripe.
