Awesome amps for the money! The 80XL is one loud beast... ;o) If I didn't already own the Cube 20X(Which I Love) I'd buy the 40 XL...I also like the built in 80 second looper..

Anyone tryed these yet? The Cube 40XL is a $219 amp and is a killer amp for this price..I see myself grabbing one just because it's that good.And I am a tube amp guy,but if it sounds good,it's good.

I'm curious how much of a "push" the solo channel offers. I like the Cubes but prior versions only had the JC and Lead channels with no way to boost the Lead channel, which I need in a live setting with the band. I just might have to check these new ones out.

You can dial the solo volume up and really boost the overall tone and volume..I'm pretty fussy but this amp sounded really good when I tryed it..There are some good YouTube videos also..

Very cool. I read the specs on it when I had time on Roland's site. That just might do the trick, and it's lighter than my Vox AD50VT. I'll have to check that out to see if I can get my sound out of it. I use the Soldano model primarily in my Vox.

I believe that amp has a presence switch? Yes? No?
If I had the extra cash, I'd be all over the 40! Especially if it had presence control. That would just make the Marshall model to me.
That said - still love my little 30....
The Blackface is awesome
The 5150 is awesome
The Marshall is just short of great (did I mention presence?)
The vox/tweed are ok too
I really like the Recto - but it can get a little 'digital' at max fuzz.
And of course, the JC120 channel - which I love. And just enough fx to make it all tasty

The 80XL has a presence pot...Both amps have a foot switchable "solo" boost and you set the boost with a volume pot...The only thing that sucks,is you'd spend as much for the 4 FU-6 Boss pedals to switch all the features at $55 a switch...With that being said,you can footswitch channels,the solo boost,effects,or kick the looper in and out..Just a great amp for around $200..I've really gotten along with my Cube 20X(Used it our last gig all night) but this amp is really a great deal..Loud amps also.. ;o)

Did you get your's from Musician's Friend? I should have grabbed the one they had on their site yesterday but snoozed on it...It was a mint returned 40XL for $190 and then a discount on that..Price with shipping would have been just under $175 and with full warranty,return allowance etc... ;o( Should have grabbed it,but I'm sure there will be others.

I had a CUBE 60 as well as a CUBE 80 for a while. I did some digging around on the internet and read that Roland revamped the controls on the CUBE 80 to make the amp more versatile. Having said that, I tried my CUBE 60 settings on the CUBE 80 regardless and found the 80 to be very thin. I did take into consideration that the Cube 60s speaker was well broken in but still made the decision to sell the 80 because i was afraid that I may not like it as much as the 60 later on down the road. I also discovered that the cab porting had changed on the Cube 80s as well (wasn't sure it made much difference but ya). Originally, I was looking to upgrade to the 80xl for the added features but in the end was afraid that I would regret parting with the CUBE 60 only to findout that the 80xl would never sound as good overall (as the 60).
