New to installing pickups/ soldering guitar electronics.

I know there are probably already threads about this but could anyone post some links or point me in the direction of existing threads with tips, advice, basic principles to learn.

I don't want to know how to change one part for another, I want to know the ins and outs of why each wire goes where it does, what terms like series/parralel, out of phase and auto splitting actually mean and such.

Again, I am aware this maybe a redundant topic for a lot of you but if you could point me in the right direction I wouldnt post useless stuff here.

Thanks in advance for your help and undying patience.

Best way is to buy a book, study and experiment yourself. Its not rocket science, any one should be able to do some basic mods/diagnosing on any guitar given a soldering iron and a VOM. Then, to understand which wire goes where and why would be a piece of cake.

Another thing you can do, buy an el-cheapo guitar somewhere (craigslist or pawn shop) and use that to experiment with as far as soldering practice goes.

That way you can still play your other guitar(s) while experimenting with different wiring scenarios. Just a thought, good luck!
